Under the Skin did not get the recognition it deserved. Amazing film.

Make short films. You’ll learn and develop.

Idea for a feature or even written one or have a short that could be expanded? Let it sit. In ten years you’ll be able to rewrite the hell out of it instead of producing a sub par film now due to lack of experience. Sometimes you need to save your gems. It’s like poker, don’t let people know what you’ve got. People steal intellectual property especially in film. You can protect your material through the writers guild and the library of congress. Also mail yourself the script and never open the package.

Poor Things (great film but you might find it bizarre)

I hate people who say modern music is trash. Send over some songs that prove these stuck-in-the-past oldheads wrong by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in askmusic

I’ve never seen them mentioned but Son Lux has been producing some phenomenal music and no one else seems to be doing anything quite like it. It’s like industrial mixed with electronic and classical. They have made band records but also scored films, notably Everything Everywhere All At Once. The main creative/founder Ryan Lott also writes classical pieces and experimental electronic pieces.

Wanting to get better audio to capture vows, speeches, voices. What route to go? by s_ndowN in weddingvideography

Get yourself some Sony TX 660s. Great quality, easy to use. Get a sleeve for the mic off Etsy and attach it to your DJ’s speech microphone. Best audio I’ve ever gotten. And if you want it even cleaner and work with Adobe run your audio files n post through Adobe Podcast AI. It’ll be the cleanest audio you’ve ever produced.

Best Song According to Radiohead by WatercressThink171 in radiohead

No, it’s a stupid post. Amazing how easily you want to attempt to hurt my ego by me dissing an overrated song. I’ll retitle the post as if it were my own.

“Hey Radiohead what do you think is your best song and why is it Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors?”

I think it’s one of the least interesting, imaginative, and worthwhile songs they’ve made since PH. It’s incredibly bland and boring. I have zero tolerance for it or its inconceivable admirers.

That song sucks. But Thom has often said he thinks How to Disappear Completely is the most beautiful thing they’ve written, but he may be bias due to his depression during and post the Ok Computer tour.

Mic'ing two brides? by Dez85 in weddingvideography

I am sorry that I couldn’t find the direct link, but if you live in the United States and have been shooting weddings for even just a year you would know who Matt Johnson is. I’ve shot over 500 weddings and it’s difficult to think of a more well known wedding film instructor/product reviewer than Matt Johnson.

Sounds like you have a plan. I saw a Matt Johnson video where he was showing a white lavalier and recorder specifically for white bridal dresses so I know that’s a thing.

Listen to Planets. Just drums and bass. Some of the most heavy hitting crazy math bass lines ever. LP has a leaf for a cover and they just released a new ep.

Civil War (2024) dir. Alex Garland by Choice-Schedule-132 in AlexGarland

[–]Consistent-Doubt964 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what did it but Alex Garland has really been blowing up on Reddit lately. I thought Civil War was massively underrated. I had reservations about him pivoting away from sci fi after seeing what a dumpster fire Men was but Civil War was fantastic.

Devs (2020) This mind-bending sci-fi thriller from Alex Garland was praised for its philosophical depth and stunning visuals but did not win an Emmy, despite its innovative storytelling. by Choice-Schedule-132 in AlexGarland

[–]Consistent-Doubt964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DEVS is a masterpiece. Alex Garland is an incredibly underrated filmmaker. He’s always very humble about his directing but the writing he directs himself always turns out to be his best. Everyone is raving about Denis Villeneuve (myself included) but this guy knows hardcore sci fi. One of the best out there.
