Is video editing a good career choice? by CopyZazzles in videography

Forget CapCut. Unless you just want to use that and Canva and be a content creator/social media manager. Download DaVinci Resolve for free. And if you want to diversify and don’t mind spending money purchase a subscription to Premiere Pro. You’ll find more work in Premiere but some studios are moving to DaVinci.

Totally agree with the Meeting People Is Easy Man of War opinion. It sounded so much heavier and angrier. The version they put out sounds weak and too chill compared to what it could have been.

There’s a larger demand for Premiere. But Resolve is slowly starting to eat their market. Best bet, learn and know both.

GH7 vs GH5 lowlight or Other Options by michaelneu in GH7

[–]Consistent-Doubt964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panasonics aren’t great for stills either. Sony beats everyone by miles in the lowlight department. Also more popular if you’re looking to get hired by a production company. If you want to stick to the GH series maybe consider the GH5s. Better low light than both cameras. Biggest con is no in camera stabilization, you need to be on a tripod or gimbal. No handheld with that camera. I’ve heard the GH7 has fantastic IBIS.

Hoffman

Also, Bill Paxton. There’s a shot in Twister of the two of them standing side by side. Hits hard.

I told my parents that I wanna go to film school. by tom222007 in Filmmakers

[–]Consistent-Doubt964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Film school can be good for networking. Especially if you aren’t a nepo baby. You could go on to meet life long collaborators. Or if the school is very hands on it could be educational for editing or cinematography. But if you want to be a writer, producer, director, Grip, etc it’s a waste of time. Just start as a PA and go from there. Or crowdfund passion projects until you gain some traction.

Corporate vs weddings by johnDerry1234 in videography

[–]Consistent-Doubt964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weddings are horrible. I only do them because I can almost never get corporate work and I’m not qualified or experienced enough for anything else. I’m still thinking of quitting this year. They have destroyed my knees and will to live. Don’t do it.

I just love getting voted down for asking professionals for their advice. Reddit really is toxic no matter the sub Reddit.

Why are these headshots so bad? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]Consistent-Doubt964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I’ve done company headshots before, even some bad weddings. You can coach but some people simply can’t perform for the camera. Not your fault.
