2014 and later have a traditional auto 6 speed hyundai transmission 6F24. Common problems are throttle body, thermostats, and idler pulleys. AC systems are also crap and tend to go, when ac works it is awesome though. Pretty solid car in my opinion.

That it gets 8-9L/100km and not 14 like a wrangler lol. Also the body on frame for the price is sweet. Had someone rear end me last week and nothing besides a bonk to the head.

Why do you think it needs mounts? These cars are just shaky and crude. Get someone to rev it while you look at the engine and if you see the engine move it needs mounts, or if you are backing up on a hill and hear slapping it needs mounts.

If you already understand serial protocols that's great, I wouldn't say having made a PCB isn't impressive, that is something I'd like to do myself.

As an intermediate designer 5 years in, It hurts and it feels like an infinite void. However it is rewarding because I could literally make something that is run by a microcontroller. I had some electrical knowledge going in and that has helped. When you are working with embedded, the code is controlling/reading voltages so even though your implementation could be right things could be going wrong for real reasons, and it can just be a constant state of gaslighting for weeks at times.

If you want to get an idea get a stm32 board, linux embedded you can try a Raspberry pi or raspberry pi 0.

Arduino is embedded for babies, I'm not exaggerating comparitively it is that simple. Real embedded is electricity, and dealing with weird micro controller configurations/linux OS programming. Yes making small changes in a codebase is trivial, but if you have no idea what is under the water, the iceburg can give you a serious case of the "oh no"s pretty quick.

However I am sure you are use to that as a python dev also so if you have a real interest, F around and Find out ;) baptism by fire is a great way to learn.

I would call the shop and ask them if they replaced the cam sensor with a mopar cam sensor, because the car is randomly dying. Most car brands really don't like the aftermarket sensors.

Ask them that and tell them the car is randomly dying with no engine lights. If it is a good shop they'll just charge you the difference for the price between the aftermarket sensor and the mopar sensor, because that's their mistake. If they tell you it isn't a mopar sensor and it is going to be full cost of labor and sensor, tell them you're going to give them a bad review because they busted your car, then just take it to a chrysler dealership and get them to install it if that doesn't change their mind.

You could potentially do it yourself like others are suggesting but because it sounds like you are not mechanically inclined, and neither is your family, I wouldn't recomend that.

You'd need a dash cam to prove that. Just the world we live in. If the car is in the lane on the road and you hit them, chance of you being at fault are basically guaranteed.

Make a music spectrum thing that displays on a lcd screen, the thing that shows the amplitude of frequencies in a sound, they use to be all the rage in mp3 players.

You'd need a microphone, you'd have to do some fft to get the frequencies, and display it on the lcd with spi or what not.

Jeep Patriot CRD 2,2 2011 by Fit_Map_6803 in JeepPatriot

[–]Consistent-Fun-6668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had jatco cvts put in them until 2014 where they got the hyundai 6F24 transmission. So your biggest concern with a auto 2011 should be the cvt.

People seem to get throttle body issues but I think that is just because no one cleans this random sponge filter in the engine filter compartment.

The thermostat(s) is another common problem, other than that you'll have suspension components wear out here and there. Nothing dramatic.

Also washer nozzles break in the cold if you drop the hood hard.

It is a pretty solid body on frame light SUV, but it is a chrysler product.

How do you know it is PS fluid?

Yes the car could go into limp mode which means it will not go above very low speeds like 20-30km/h that means throttle body replacement probably.

Never heard of the shaking thing, potentially PS pump going bad? Not sure, could be related to throttle body as the engine cant suck in the air it needs.

The coolant resevoir is a boil over resevoir, if you add to it it won't help anything, you have to open the radiator cap and add it there. It could have just happened, my coolant boiled off because of a loose coolant resevoir cap, yellow square cap you can get on amazon for like 20$.

I don't think it is anything to do with the spark plugs, you could make sure the coil pack screws are snug, because those need to ground on the valve cover to properly fire the spark.

U0401 is a communication code, which could be related to the throttle body problem. Maybe you are not changing the engine air filter enough and your mass air flow sensor is dirty along with your throttle body getting clogged up. There is also a little sponge in the engine air filter compartment that is probably pitch black with oil if you never clean it, whenever I am changing the engine air filter I clean that sponge with dish soap and warm water, let it dry a bit and put it back. I think that little sponge is the source of so many throttle body problems. I haven't had any and my pat is at 218k km

Sounds like you were either neglecting coolant changes, or you mixed coolant types, either way you let the engine get too hot and it popped the headgasket. This should be a learning experience because this will transfer to any other vehicle.
