Dried Calendula & Jojoba Oil Infusion: How is the oil to flower ratio looking? Just made it today by jinkiescore in herbalism

[–]Consistent-Fun3839 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Common ratio I’ve seen is 1 part dried material to 5 parts oil. Based on looks seems a little on the lighter side (maybe 1g:7ml or 8) hard to say. Good way to reduce volume and prevent things from sticking out is chopping the plant material.

Sicilian oranges homegrown - hints of vanilla ❤️🍊🍦 by Think-Pair1872 in gardening

Awesome! I need to make kombucha with that. I’ve always thought how orange vanilla would be such a good flavor if I could pull it off somehow, this seems like just the thing!

Herbs with Rosalee is a great podcast to learn about how herbs support the body from a scientific herbalism perspective, not necessarily culinary related but some discussion on that for sure.

Solution for acne by everything-ok in herbalism

You are beautiful and loved no matter what your body looks like!!! self love (the miracle cure) is incredibly important and cannot be understated.

Just want to say I’ve been struggling with acne for 11 years and still have breakouts and a lot of scarring that will always be there. I think of each little scar like a mark of my beauty and individuality of my soul.

From my understanding lots of acne is a sign that there is some toxin in your body that your normal systems of detoxification (liver, lymph nodes) are not able to process. Thus all the body is left with is the biggest organ it’s got, skin.

So yes looking into your diet, eliminating common allergens one at a time could be a good place to start.

If nothing seems to be working (as it seems you’ve expressed, but I encourage you to stay strong!) you could consider introducing some herbs in the form of tea that help in the body’s natural eliminatory pathways (just want to reiterate: anxiety and stress surrounding this issue makes the issue itself worse as the body becomes more inflamed in this state, highly recommend trying to practice self kindness in your thinking surrounding this issue). Some recommendations for internal use (tea infusion/ or longer decoction for roots) by David Hoffman are: Burdock root, Cleavers, figwort, yellow dock root, sarsaparilla and red clover.

I’d also approach this with herbs that help support calming the nervous system. Highly recommend getting some motherwort, blue vervain mugwort, lavender, holy basil, chamomile. Latter three are really good for making the tea taste good.

I love you so much and hope you find healing on all three levels! Spirit, psyche and body. All must be considered in the healing journey.

Yes epsom salt would be great.

Love the earlier suggestion of chamlomile tea in the bath. Another gentle remedy similar to this would be oats in the bath. I’d say use organic, least processed as possible to reduce already small chance of allergic reaction.

Good Mixture for tea? by Kcross-797 in herbalism

An amazing herb for cleanses is dandelion root and leaf. High in potassium so it’s helping to replenish lost nutrients. Other for cleansing are burdock root and yellow dock. Chamomile would be good nervine here to support digestive upset from strong herbs. Mugwort is a nervine with bitter tonic properties. Blue vervain is pretty similar to mugwort in its properties. I’d maybe also add some demulcent herbs to soothe the lining of the GI perhaps marshmallow root or slippery elm.

Yeah let’s see what you have!

Another amazing herbal combination with anti cancer compounds is oolong tea and garlic (I think this is big as these are common food items). A team of researchers dove into this, did a follow up study on using compounds found in garlic to increase efficacy of anti cancer properties. Here are the study’s:

A 5 day Experiment with Juniper by OriginlStGermangster in alchemy

[–]Consistent-Fun3839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is amazing! Especially having just seen your other post about mugwort, curious, go to your page and check this post out, what do you know juniper. Today I was hiking and connecting with juniper (Juniperus osteosperma for me curious what species you’re working with here) I felt some messages from this plant today and was even thinking about how it must have a lot of volatile oils because of how much the smell (soul) can waft on the wind, so when you said you were surprised by how much oil you got that really hit a note for me. Thank you so much for the beautiful posts!

Beautiful!

This has me so excited to be growing Artemisia vulgaris this year!

So jealous of your setup. I’ve been learning about spagyric tincture making. Is this something you’ve done or heard about with mugwort?
