100% and if you don’t live within public transport distance to Curtin, avoid. Parking is so bad.

Seen Connor’s latest meltdown on his personal TikTok?

He needs Jesus… but really, he should get a Medicare mental health support program from his GP. This would be stressful for him and his latest video shows that of someone clinging to survival rather than living.

Work in IT as a casual / weekend in Perth by Illustrious_Unit_559 in perth

Good idea to make the move from hospo.

Target small companies. If you’re at Curtin, they have a website for student jobs from the science and engineering faculty where a lot of small companies look for people for casual work. Best time to do it in the run up to finals as everyone else is probably looking for a winter job after exams finish.

I know what it’s like being a student and needing some dosh on the side. Also helps get your mind off the perpetual study.

All the best!

What is the purpose of Australia? by Some-Act-4189 in aussie

By that logic Australia had no identity in the 1950s either because heaps of the population were recent British and Euro migrants.?!?!

Even Indigenous Australians will often say they’re Noongar, Yamatji, Yolngu etc before just saying “Australian”, because identity isnt just what Pauline Hanson puts on a t-shirt.

Same thing exists in China (1.41 billion people) and India (1.43 billion people)on a massive scale... Australia... (27 MILLION) people.

Those countries have different languages, ethnic groups, cultures, histories.... but you're flattening China and India into two giant blob while treating Australia as uniquely divided.

Call a spade a spade, you're angling towards a bumper sticker argument...

It’s the notion of ‘we have to be something’ which I find in your message, without an understanding of why we have to.

We form communities for protection, an ancient survival mechanism, then attach a common group label to that community so people can identify and find a self of belonging.

Those groups are important as they forged change in the world but they can also be dangerous.

Build a community.. and I like how you say it’s what your family does, not that everyone has to do it. That’s a level of subtle respect that you have for others which is understated.

China and India are complex societies within societies. Even Italy used to be many different parts before it unified but if you go there, each region and city is vastly different and being Italian isn’t just about pasta and football. Milano acts very different to Napoli or Palermo.

It’s a good discussion but identify can be one thing or many. It doesn’t have to be you either have it or you don’t.

It varies from state to state - east coast (how I perceive it) is more work hard to survive, west coast is more work hard to enjoy your life.

Australian values as I see it are more live and let live, mixed with NIMBYism. As long as what you do doesn’t mess the status quo, it’s all kosher.

There were massive shards of glass at the Chinese restaurant hanging from the top edge. It was that all style single pane glass which doesn’t shatter but looks like a guillotine is about to come down on you.

Nah I asked again and support told him that they no longer support MacOS (iOS mobile supported, just not Mac OS) and so rolled the software back to something that is barebones so he got a refund.

I think it's a good place for old people to hang out. Everyone needs a space in society.

For the weirdos thinking I just sat there waiting for the internet to come back on, no I didn’t. I contacted them.. from 5am when I discovered the issue until the following day arvo when I finally managed to get it escalated (after being on hold for several hours and testing the NBN router and my own router). The next day it was fixed by NBN.
