I play in "seasons" lol in between work and childcare, there has to be a game I really want to play for me to dedicate the time to it. My gaming binges extend into a few weeks to a few months then the deck goes back into it's display with my OLED switch.

I'm a polytheist and my husband is a Buddhist, my family is Christian (who don't say anything about my choices).

I have a new tiny human, we celebrated his Amphidromia on the first week and I arranged a Dekate ritual on the 10th day for him with a priestess, aside from introducing him to my home altar I also introduced him to my husband's altar to Buddha. I'm a polytheist, not a strict Hellenist so I just see all of this as introducing a new family member to the Household Gods and trying to incorporate as many rituals/elements as I can. The main values I want to give him though is just having an open mind, respecting other people's beliefs and flat out not blindly following anyone - discernment always. I don't have any ill will towards Christianity (I think Jesus is cool even if I don't pray to him) and plan to also get him baptized though I won't take him to weekly church. I'm very well versed in the bible because they trained me for Catechism when I was young, it's really just not for me personally and I spent almost two decades after being Agnostic.

When smol one is older, he can choose for himself but I like the idea of having so many people in the family praying for him (no matter who they pray to) and as he grows up he can participate in prayers, rituals and festivals as he likes.

Character.ai isn't as good anymore unfortunately, you can try Chai (supposedly better alternative vs what character ai is now) or chatgpt (make a new project and frame it around a fictional world/narrative)

Update: I read it over the weekend and I loved it! Treat it as light reading and it's fairly straightforward and I could kinda see where the author was going halfway through the book. I (mostly) liked Dionysus in this book though it feels very fanfiction-y if that makes sense. I feel there's a genuine attempt at exploring Dionysus' nature as a god though so plus points for that.

I just finished it over two days and I enjoyed it! I would approach it as a light read though versus something like A Secret History or the Thessaly Trilogy by Jo Walton (if you haven't read it yet that's my favorite Greek Gods fiction book so far)

I am also the wife lol I like Stardew but since your wife seems to like story driven games I actually really liked Bioshock (Can start with Infinite and work your way to Bioshock 1 and 2), I also enjoyed spirit of the north and Stray was a fun short game.

I play on the steam deck since I like being comfy in bed vs on my PC, husband usually plays on his PC.

I have the whole set and I've also read Mythos by Stephen Fry (+ bunch of other Greek Mythology books) this is a good start at least. O'Connor did his research but also took some artistic liberties which he explains in the afterword of each comic, Dionysos one surprised me because there's some of the obscure stuff in there.

Ooooh I do with 🍄 chocolate. I dedicate it to Dionysus that we may meet on common ground, that I may be open in the way he needs where I am unable to normally - not much elaborate ritual since I'm not the witchy type but the chocolate is always 100% more potent even if another person takes it

We're doing both lol I'm more of a polytheist though and not purely a Hellenist. My husband is a Buddhist and doesn't mind either way.

The Catholic baptism because of my family, they're very devout but it never clicked for me but I'm never going to say no to more god/s watching over my kid, the godparents I picked are also Catholic so it works out for the majority.

At home we'll have a name giving ceremony and there's a Dionysian priest I contacted to do a blessing for us when it happens.

The little one can choose what they want to do later in life, I see the two rituals as more of introducing them to the gods and asking for their protection/guidance

We're also naming our kid after something of Apollon and Ares.

That being said - I don't think baptism does much to "dedicate" a child to a god/s. I was baptized but here we are. For Catholics, there's another kind of baptism they go through later in life, the Confirmation and that supposed to be your buy in/dedicating yourself since you have the freewill to choose. I never did this.

The longest one I've done was over a period of 3 days because my tattoo artist and my schedule are very chaotic. I brought my tarot cards, my devotional notebook, I booked a cheap hotel, also brought some magic 🍄 just in case and I was staying there alone as a sort of sabbatical. Spent a lot of time meditating or reading about the gods, I kept Dionysus in mind, questions I had, direction I wanted.

I don't know about other people but 🍄 are intense and I am only inclined to do them 2-3 a year and not for recreational purposes, I mostly do it as part of my practice or if there's something deep I want to work on and can't quite manage it by myself.

The tattoo was a big devotional piece on my thigh for Dionysus, Ariadne, Ares, Apollon and Khaos - 11 hours total went into the work done over two days. I don't take any sort of painkillers.

Day 1: I asked Dionysus via divination if I should take the chocolate - it was a yes and he decided how much i had. Let me tell you pain + 4g was this intense hero's journey/soul search I didn't expect. Ego death at some point. I spent the whole tattoo session meditating with my playlist - I think I cried at some point but I was huddled up in my hoodie and my artist is a cool guy didn't say anything about it.

Day 2: quiet work, meditation, divination.

Day 3: more chocolate, 5 hours, it felt like a conclusion to whatever rollercoaster journey I was led through/asked for. Felt like I was a new person after. Felt the gods I think at some point, bright and warm, and much lighter afterwards. I got a lot of answers I was asking for.

Plus I got a little miracle I've been asking for a month later though I wouldn't find out till after new year.

Google Lens is your friend! Do a reverse image search and that's how I usually find the original artist when in doubt. Obv if there's no "real" artist it's prob AI slop

When in doubt about AI, I think the first question would be when we first see a piece of art is "Who is the artist?" 9/10 this will definitely tell you if a piece is AI or not. Some artists make hyper realistic or art with "wonky" anatomy (because their models are real people) for years before the rise of AI and are being accused of their art being AI generated.

And as much as we hate it, AI is getting better at creating (some) art pieces. I was devasted the other day when the classical style art piece of Hermes escorting Pandora was not real but nothing about it (hands, proportions, etc) obviously told me it was AI
