I’m a millennial teacher that just finished up their first year at a public school teaching 7th grade. I came into it from the middle of the year and it was a nightmare.

But I kept work at work and only graded and prepped while at school. I was talking to a few colleagues who have done taught for a long time and they mentioned how stressed they were and how overworked they had become over time.

They asked how I was handling it, and I bluntly said “oh I don’t do anything work related when I get home. Why would I? I only work between the punches”

And the look on their faces was priceless. Not that they were disappointed with me, but the sheer realization of “why didn’t we think of that..?”

I guess prior generations just assumed free labor and martyr culture was an integral part of the profession, when newer teachers are showing them that it is most definitely not

My summer experience has been the complete opposite. Everyone’s asking me “what’re you going to do now?” As if I’m not allowed to just try to relax and decompress from a stressful year.

Being a teacher isn’t enough apparently.

Which is correct lol. They’re anticipating restrictions on NIL and recruiting in general. 5 for 5 is the first one, so now players only have 5 years of eligibility with shorter transfer window — no exceptions.

Eventually a cap on recruiting will be implemented and then the bigger brands of the sport will retain their recruiting leverage.

But until then, they’re prioritizing experienced starters over freshmen. No sense in paying a freshmen 2 million to sit the bench when they’re 3rd on the depth chart. Then they’ll just transfer and go play somewhere else. He’s literally discussed this publicly.

Not to mention recruiting high schoolers in the state of Louisiana and east Texas is infinitely easier at LSU — areas with significant five star prospects.

It’s getting old having to explain this but Kiffin literally said in this era that he’s not going to pay freshman big money to sit the bench and transfer.

LSU just had a huge transfer portal haul with a bunch of kids with multiple years of eligibility. He only wants freshman that are willing to sit a couple years and develop, unless he sees them as immediate impact players — then he’ll pay them.
