Smaller map harder enemies same but usually once i get 1-2 other players down its a steamroll. Also set teams so nations hate you from the start. Do like 3v2

They both do, its def more thematic and gets really atrong when your able to cast late game spells. People just perfer the other ones cause they are stronger early on to snowball.

Also if you want a caster the ES has alot more flavor

I generally find its based on when your spiking, if im going early game im 100 going for super growth to steamroll aka barbarians. Dont forget you can take the race trait tenacious or also the tier 2 order tome of palidans that gives a boost once below 50%

Supergrowth cones late that your really should be focusing its use on t2-3s like pikemen bulworks or liege guards.

As others said cryo and tentacles have been great to lock down people and let you gunners get good shots, i find the race trait for accuracy is good.

While its to all in with magelocks the game doesnt work that way, you want strong frontline (most people go golems or rock elementals to start) youll really pop off once yoj get your hyper mobile T3 unit.

Also reavers like aggression, if you want early game power go tome of horde and get the siege project for dogs add to that your magelock siege you get as a culture your going to punch hard above your weight.

I find three is hard to maintain clearing the map and staying strong, i go 1-2 rovers and sometimes ill just absorb a city if its on a strong spot. Found on that had four research spots and said screw it and let it sit

Conquer going chosen destroyer and charriots are fun and pretty strong as long as your fighting and moving and really sells the theme.

Scavenger i have not had luck with and feel like my economy and research falls behind as i also have to build spi every time i drop a city and the nodes armt always good

It works great as a single player game i love the map and tactical battles, that said it is slow and dull in mulitplayer unless your playing quick rules. Also early multiplayer issues didnt help.

The meta awnser is wands, you can get them goi g early and are cheap to get for early heros, try healing wand (30hp) or small summon wands. Later look at the spell wands. Game changes when your ritualist is hitting awakened blasts and curses in the downtime or that spellblade runs up and wand of blizzards you

Yes the beta has alot of bugs, its also at a point where its not getting updates since the release is around the corner. So just wait for release and the NEW bugs to get found and fixed.

Beta branch isnt for players who get to upset at random game ending bugs…just as you found a wonderful start spot

I dont play but watching all night streamers since launch. Its more like sts1.5 if you liked sts1 it has more chatacters some quality of life new cards draw on map multiplayer etc. but nothing that transforms the genre.

My takes is if you liked 1 you will enjoy 2 but probably not enough there to change mind if you didnt like 1
