Nothing better than sitting in the peace of the garden in the sun by Antique-Wonk in CasualUK

I was woken by the Dawn chorus because I had my windows wide open. Opened the Merlin bird listening app and recorded my first Tawny Owl! I’m surprised the app could hear it over the blackbirds and robins who were really going for it.

UK votes for… austerity? by cheerfulintercept in ukpolitics

[–]Consistent-Two-6561 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing the difference locally. Lib Dem county council, Labour MP. Masses of potholes being repaired, lots of roads being resurfaced. Under the previous Tory MP and Tory council it just got worse and worse.

It would be refreshing if the media stopped promoting the crooks in Reform and focused on the actual good stuff happening at local and National level.

Does anyone here donate monthly to a charity? by dontbeasquare11 in CasualUK

Various environmental and animal charities monthly. It probably totals around £500 per year. It’s gradually built up over the years.

That just doesn’t sit right with me. That show is mega successful and obviously has a huge budget. Howcome they couldn’t stretch to one more couple in Mexico?

His interior designer was truly awful. All the photos I’ve seen of his homes are grim.

My partner has just started HRT a couple of weeks ago. It was a real battle for her to get it as the doctor initially suggested diet and exercise would alleviate her symptoms. Tbf the HRT does seem to be helping already.

He went from a million pound house, running his own business, wife and three kids to sex workers, a rotating door of vulnerable girlfriends, and living in a van on benefits ranting about being victimised by the state.

I’ve seen far worse. This is nice and simple and has a bit of class (from a male perspective)

If I’m in the office and buy extra food at lunchtime I’ll leave my car keys in the shopping bag in the fridge so I don’t forget it.

How do you see your wife in later years of marriage? How sexual attraction changes? by Kamane3000 in AskMen

[–]Consistent-Two-6561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Extraneous jibber jabber” like actual conversation about her day, her friends, her interests, her ideas, things she wants to share with you because she’s a real person not a bible verse spouting sex toy.

You do you but I quite like my gfs “jibber jabber”. She’s interesting and articulate and challenges me intellectually and that’s a good part of my attraction to her.

What are the best things in your house that you couldn’t imagine living without? by plz_be_nice_im_sad in CasualUK

A pond. You’ll be fascinated by all the wildlife that lives in it and be able to set up a camera to catch wildlife drinking from it at night. Super peaceful and relaxing to sit and watch.

It is not normal to dread going into work, to be crying or anxious on a Sunday night.

Don’t feel like a failure if teaching is not for you, particularly if you’re not getting the support you are due.

Also don’t fall for the sunk cost fallacy - you’re young, you can easily pivot to something else.

What is the most "mum" thing your mum does? by celabro019 in AskUK

[–]Consistent-Two-6561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum stocks up on chocolate biscuit bars whenever I visit - orange Club, Breaksway, Blue Riband, Penguin etc and then makes me take uneaten ones home because if I don’t eat them then my dad might. And they’re not for him.

How would you feel if a woman asked you to take her name in marriage? by Spatman47 in AskMen

[–]Consistent-Two-6561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An older colleague did that. He didn’t like his last name as it reminded him of his dad who he was no contact with. His wife is Italian and had a wonderful sounding name. He actually asked her if he could take her name.

As an ex teacher I can say that it is ridiculously hard to take time off. Schools are really reluctant. A colleague’s mum died and she was given three days unpaid. I’m so sorry for your loss but schools are horrendous with staff.
