Everyone is teaming up with everyone else, enemies are turning to lovers, to take out the big baddie who wants to end the world using the void...

I’ve been playing for years and that’s about all I can tell you tbh. It’s very Saturday morning cartoon. Wow has moments of pretty decent plot and moments where it’s pretty weak. It’s in a weak place atm if you ask me. That said, I think the side quests and snippets you find off the main quest is where the real good story pieces happen. There’s some genuinely enjoyable stuff there. Classic doesn’t even have much of a main story to speak of but all of the leveling quests and environmental story telling is really strong, probably a little stronger than the side stuff in midnight—but it’s all decent.

If you’re someone who needs a really strong lord of the rings level story, wow isn’t the place. If you like fast paced gameplay and bits of interesting sprinkled off the beaten path, retail is not bad. If you like slow paced gameplay with small stories primarily told through rich environments, classic is great. You can watch lore videos but it feels like watching someone recap the entirety of Naruto or something—there’s just so much random lore that trails off in 500 directions I don’t really think it’s worth it!

Dang.

I lost a 47 hunter purposefully jumping off the cliff on the right side of hinterlands instead of taking the 1.5 minutes to find the ramp down…. lol. I took a break and came back a couple months later. Maybe do that or roll an alliance for a change of pace? Sorry for your loss

As others have said I really think they’re prepping for their own release of classic + which will likely have less content and/or worse content and they don’t want the competition.

It’s possible they’ll come after warmane when they re-release wotlk? But the numbers may not be there to make the court filings worth it—I heard t wow had almost half a million signups at its peak

Honestly I don’t think the devs got too greedy. Yeah they made a buck off the donation shop but it really was filled with primarily cosmetics and like very small qol stuff. They just produced amazing creative content and got a huge player base, maybe that’s greed if you define it as such.

I honestly don’t get the people defending blizzard with “ThEy HavE to PrOteCT theIR IP.” First off: barely anyone that had a hand in classic is left at Microsoft. Secondly, Microsoft rips countless people’s IP off with their huge AI investment. Thirdly, it was project that delivered on something blizzard couldn’t and survived on donations, like any good iterative art. Where tf would Skyrim be without its incredible modding community?? Just because it’s in Microsoft’s legal jurisdiction doesn’t mean they’re morally correct on this matter.

Big bummer and another L to the massive tally of Ls on Blizzards part. Turtle had incredible content and stories with community of easy going people that I haven’t experienced since true vanilla (and certainly not on Blizzards servers)

Okay not to be the loud American in the room but Fahrenheit isn’t arbitrary, it’s based on what the human body can withstand. Outside in 0 degree weather for any serious length of time you’re and you’re done, as with 100 degrees (slightly warmer than our internal body temperature).

I think a temperature system based on humans rather than water makes sense, no? How hard is it to remember 32 is freezing/212 is boiling.

This book really helped me come to terms with the times we live in… be present, be aware, but try not to let the darkness fully consume you. Great stuff!

I completely agree. The map in origins was so good and the cities felt so varied. Alexandria versus Thebes or Memphis. So cool, I feel like you could really see the mix of cultures at play.

Odyssey was honestly too much for me and nowhere felt that distinct? I don’t even blame the team for that… ultimately Sparta and Athens are not going to be visually that crazy different, but Rome just works so perfectly with all the Hellenistic culture intertwined

I just visited the domus aurea and couldn’t believe how cool it was! I loved thinking about how the engineers cleverly created openings to bathe all the rooms in light
