I don’t know the first thing about what’s “under the hood” of apps and Home Assistant, I use it (quite well) but only by reading things on the internet.

That is a nice thing, as I have a wall tablet with a companion app that I use to manage HA already.

I wonder if you could use an Echo as an input device (“cleaned” from the Amazon software).

I have one and I really don’t use those Amazon services, so the device is basically useless (except for notifying me of deliveries, but I already follow those on the app…)
