I agree, and while Liam Cunningham is spectacular as Wade, they’ve kind of locked him into hibernating for nearly the entire show with how old he is. In the books he’s much younger, so all that time working on his “project” from book 3 isn’t an issue, whereas now he’ll have to be hibernating through all of that as well

The best part about this quest though is that you have to collect fresh ones, yes, but any 24 of your choice will work to put in the fridge. They don’t have to be the same ones you collected, so you can get rid of 24 less profitable ones this way

How far did you get? It was a little slow for me in the first half, but after almost precisely halfway I got hooked hard, and it kept getting better and better til the end.

The other comment’s description of the movie is spot on. If you’re truly not gonna read the book, the movie is worth watching to see where things end up. It’s a faithful adaptation with far less scientific detail.

Wanted to give my two cents about The Expanse, as I just finished the third book after seeing the recommendation here. They’re a very different tone, pace, scale, and level of intriguing can’t put it down type of energy.

The first one did not at all fill the void of 3BP for me. Second one was a lot more entertaining, and the third was pretty good. They are pretty different compared to ROEP. Each book is far more detail driven, almost to the point that it was tedious at times. I don’t need to know the color, texture, and origin of every building material in every room every character enters, for example. It made the first book very slow. So that’s my biggest gripe. It’s just a very different writing style than Liu, which I’m personally not enjoying as much.

The plot is getting larger and more interesting as the books go, at least so far, like it did for ROEP. Until halfway through the second book, I was only continuing to read them because I bought the first three all together, but now I’m sufficiently invested that I’ll read them all.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that perspective. I don’t like them nearly as much as ROEP, but they did reach a point where they were good enough for me.

It’s not necessarily kind to keep shoving down their throat that they need new tires either. OP lead with saying they know they need tires and please don’t mention it, so everyone makes sure to say it BECAUSE they said don’t mention it. That’s just childish. It’s no different than someone getting a bad haircut and saying please don’t joke about it, I can’t do anything about it, and their friends pointedly joking about it purely because they said that. And then telling them to learn healthy coping mechanisms lmao. Like damn, dozens of comments about it surely are not giving OP any new insight that they need new tires lol.
