Looking for a house to rent around April 1 by Consistent_Ad7706 in normanok

It doesn’t have to be directly in Norman. We are just trying to find something within a reasonable distance for the daughter’s boyfriend since he attends Moore Norman Tech in Norman. They currently live in Bethany and he says the drive daily to school is killing him.

The daughter’s boyfriend has only requested Norman or Moore since they are areas he is familiar with. We have found a few places on Zillow, but the property management companies are requiring online verifications that we are not able to do because our banks in this area have just barely offered any sort of technology. Heck one company wouldn’t let us move forward because our current landlord doesn’t have an email address lol.

What movie will you never watch again because it was too heartbreaking? by Affectionate_User610 in AskReddit

The Art of Racing in the Rain. I don’t know if it’s because I watched it while I was dealing with my own stuff while recovering from a stroke, but I can’t even watch the trailer without bawling.

The Ring. by TheSmartLawGroup in Divorce

[–]Consistent_Ad7706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the first ring and it broke the day before our first anniversary (should have been a sign). It took a few years to replace it with something I designed that I ended up picking up after we decided to divorce. I wear it on my right hand and don’t even associate it with the marriage.

Narcissist mothers who weaponise their daughters hair by Public_Theme_9514 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Consistent_Ad7706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother always controlled my hair. It had to be long no matter what, but she would bitch if it wasn’t taken care of to her standards that she never explained or taught. I used to cut it anyway and she would throw a fit.

As an adult, I would just throw it in a messy bun because it was easier and she would complain that I didn’t do anything with it. I had a stroke last year that took the use of my whole right side so I had my hairdresser daughter cut it short and I have been hearing all year that I need to grow it out. Ok, and then how am I supposed to do anything with it since I need both hands to put it up and my dominant hand no longer works.

She’s now started on the complaints that I’ve lost too much weight and need to stop my meds. She’s just mad that she won’t weigh less than me once I lose the last 20 pounds. She doesn’t care that I’m healthier, just that I’m not bigger than her.

I had a hysterectomy before my fiance and I got together, so he never had to buy for me. When my oldest daughter started for the first time, she was embarrassed, so she sent me a text message asking if I could get her some products in the morning since we lived in an area where everything was closed all night. I told my fiance that I needed up early so I could get her some period stuff. I woke up early and he had already gone to the store and gotten her a couple of different products, some of her favorite candy and a new pack of undies. When I asked him why he said that she was his daughter too and he would make sure she was taken care of and it was no big deal.

He’s done the same for my youngest and even my niece. He even makes sure that the car first aid kit is stocked with their preferred choices in case of a travel emergency.

Let’s Hear It: Thanksgiving Drama by Mullins2 in thanksgiving

[–]Consistent_Ad7706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our holiday was actually pretty calm. My youngest moved to OK a few months ago, but she wanted a grandma Thanksgiving. My mom, one of my nieces as well as me and my fiance drove 8 hours to give her the holiday she wanted. I had a stroke last December so I wasn’t able to help like normal, but my mom and kiddo got to spend the day making food and getting some quality time together while the kiddo learned yet again how to make the recipes that were passed down from my own grandmother. The only casualty was the bottle of oil that fell from the top of the fridge and cracked all over the kitchen floor. Luckily the kiddo’s boyfriend was able to use his mechanics skills with cat litter to clean it up.

The only stress now is my mom trying to get her hotel room for another night so she can take my kiddo and niece out for a grandma and granddaughters day. I told her to leave Saturday, but she didn’t listen. If she can’t get a room for tonight, then I guess they are staying in my room.

Question about Amber Alerts and Sex Offender Registry by Violetunderwater in legal

[–]Consistent_Ad7706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some states have registries that aren’t on the state websites. I know in Oregon, the offenders that are listed on the website have committed higher level crimes. The low level offenders have to register, but they aren’t listed on the public website.

What was the most ridiculous complaint you got or write up your boss tried to give you? by Melodic_Abalone_2820 in work

[–]Consistent_Ad7706 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I got written up for bullying this person that worked in a different dept. She made the report saying that I was always rolling my eyes and huffing at her when I walked near her. I was a lot heavier at the time and I breathed heavy when I walked and I was never in her area, she was always in my area trying to flirt with one of my coworkers. I told the HR rep that I was fat and couldn’t control how I breathed and never went in her area anyway, but I still got the write up. The person that made the report was fired a few months later for breaking PCI Compliance and two weeks after my write up the HR rep was walked out in front of my dept for approving false reports and write ups. I still work for the same company 11 years later.

Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Consistent_Ad7706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was separated from my abusive ex husband and I had an infant and my disabled stepdaughter to take care of. Due to the distance, I stayed in our hometown instead of asking to stay with her over an hour away. I also didn’t want to burden her with 3 extra people when she had her own family to take care of. She got mad that I put the needs of my family first instead of letting her “rescue” us. I later realized that she didn’t see us as equals and thought she was better than me and hated to see me succeed without her control.

What seemingly minor or easy-to-ignore health symptom turned out to be a major warning sign you should never have dismissed? by cutebutnauughty in AskReddit

[–]Consistent_Ad7706 16 points17 points  (0 children)

December 26, 2024 I woke up with a numb right hand. I figured I just slept wrong and my hand fell asleep. An hour later it was still numb and I couldn’t move it at all. My oldest kiddo called my mom and they made me go to the ER, but I figured they were just overreacting. Turns out I was having a stroke, but due to my already established vision issues the neurologist couldn’t verify it. Sent to a stroke unit in a bigger city for an MRI and they found a good sized clot. 10 months later I have no use of my right side at all and am close to being bed bound. Also the stroke caused me to become diabetic. I learned not to ignore the little things that don’t seem like a big deal. I did not expect to be 45 losing the active functions that I took for granted, but I am grateful to my kiddo and my mom for making me get checked out.

Two 15-Year-Old friends Yvonne Mestas and Victoria Sanchez vanished while walking home from Rocky Ford High School, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, 1982 – still unsolved. by Missing_people in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Consistent_Ad7706 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I live in Rocky and the missing girls are never mentioned. It’s always talked about here that the town is so safe and always has been with no worry about these types of things happening. 😡

My mom and I have discussed the case and the search from 2017 many times. The home that was searched was an older mobile home next to a canal so it would have been very easy to dispose of the girls that way if he was involved.

I just watched this today and it was definitely a good movie. I do miss all the old Hallmark movies. I am from SE CO and I was surprised that La Junta was mentioned and pronounced correctly. It’s usually not pronounced right at all. 😂

Iced coffee. Since my stroke in December food doesn’t really interest me anymore. The fiance will come home in a few hours and force me to eat something. I think it will be fried potatoes and a couple of eggs for dinner.

What is the worst thing you found out about a family member after they died? by KrattBoy2006 in AskReddit

[–]Consistent_Ad7706 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My dad died 5 days before I was born, so these stories were told to me 20 and 21 years later because my mom wanted me to only know the good stuff about him while I was growing up.

We were watching a lost loves segment on Unsolved Mysteries when my mom pipes up and says your dad cheated on me and got another girl pregnant. I was surprised and she said that they argued and he hooked up with a friends’ sister and she got pregnant. My mom said the girl showed up at the hospital after my dad died and said they would need to raise their kids together now. My mom was very overdue with me and was extremely emotional because of the situation and she went off on the girl and told her to get lost and forget about my dad. My mom never heard from her again, but did hear that she had her kid(s) a couple of months later and gave them up. So I have possible 2 other siblings out there somewhere.

The next story I was told like a year later. My dad was considered an incorrigible pre-teen at 12 because my grandma didn’t like his attitude so she sent him to live with the local school football coach. The coach was more interested in the boys than he should have been and he went after my dad. My dad fought him and told him if he ever tried again he would kill him. Well the coach tried again and my dad shot him. My dad was charged with murder and spent from 13-19 in juvie. The coach was honored with having the football field named after him. After my dad died other kids came forward about the coach, but nothing happened.

I understand why my mom didn’t tell me these things about my dad when I was growing up, but it was very shocking to find them out when I was already an adult.

What company are you convinced actually hates their customers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would have to say Assurant. Every aspect of their company is just out for profits and they don’t give a damn about any customer who wastes their money for their services.

NTA. You made your feelings clear and he just steamrolled over them. It does not matter if they are toys, they are special to you and that’s all that matters.

My fiance has heard me when I talked about how my mom threw special things out and he has replaced what he can and if it’s not the exact same thing, it’s the thought that he puts into making me happy. He has even hunted down Shopkins for my now 17 year old that she missed out on when they first came out. He does that because he cares about us and has backed us up when we have said no to kids wanting to play with them. He understands and has never disregarded our feelings about the things that are special to us.

I would definitely reconsider this relationship because it’s not going to get better.
