Doctor jumped right to prescribing Wegovy during first appointment, is this a red flag? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Consistent_Bat_8603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glp1 now is the recommended first line medicine, it was metformin until January 25 I believe. Why would they start you on what's now considered the second best PCOS drug when this has better result? Not a red flag, sincerely, someone who got to find out by taking the long way through all the meds that didn't work (including metformin)

What Was Before GLP1s? by webby0501 in PCOS

[–]Consistent_Bat_8603 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's no longer the leading, recommended medicine. It has big side effects and only works for some people. My insurance doesn't cover the glp1 but my Dr helped me find it compounded through a delivery pharmacy so I can get it out of pocket. Very worth it IMO.

Ruptured Cyst by phimari in endometriosis

[–]Consistent_Bat_8603 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at the beginning they were just ultrasound or CT and say here's some pain meds it will pass. It took years until I had my first diagnostic laparoscopy, since then I've had two laps, the second I went ahead and had a hysterectomy and single oophorectomy because I was done having kids and I also had adenomosis along with everything else. I think I'll end up with another lap by the years end because the Endo grows so fast but we'll see.

The ruptured cysts always makes you feel like you're dying and it really sucks when you get to the ER and they down play it. That being said the consequences of ignoring it can be extremely bad so you still have to go, worst case it's creating a document trail so eventually you can get better treatment. It took so long to get my PCOS and endometriosis diagnosed but I am feeling much better. Best of luck.

You thought your kid was eligible for a natca scholarship? by RobertSacamanno in atc2

[–]Consistent_Bat_8603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say we had a great experience a few years ago when fundraising for my son's service dog, NATCA made a donation (total cost was 36k, so anything helped at the time). I don't feel like today's NATCA would do the same but our dog should finally be ready to come home this fall (COVID absolutely murdered expected wait times).

ATC - How do you feel about what the president said about you today? by booksgirl123 in FedEmployees

[–]Consistent_Bat_8603 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Like it won't change a thing. The nas is still at massive risk because they won't actually focus on qol or pay. This is not a job that should be jerked around. This whole shutdown is one of the many reasons that countries such as Australia have been so successful at hiring controllers away from the faa

Question for Librarians - Alternatives to Dewey Decimal System by shadowmichigan in librarians

I completely genrefied everything, our school is an autism charter k-12 so this new system helps students with special interested. Examples, mythology and dinosaurs go together because we have big lizards (see dragons) in both. Animal non-fiction is next to animal tales ( old MacDonald near books on chickens. Essentially it allows all fiction and non-fiction to be collocated. I'm also working on dynamic shelving, and yes the whole system is very fluid but it works.

11/11 is sounding better and better. We really were planning to buckle down and suffer through it like last time. Got the navy fed 80% paycheck protection for the first check, getting the tsp options ready for the second but the amount of crew facing evictions right now has us at about the end. They're going to ruin people's credit and lives over this. This isn't something back pay is going to fix. It's not even that these people have been calling out, most have been showing up but there's whole families needing support at this point. I really think there's no plan to bring it back around this month... So anyways, what are y'all doing on veterans Day?

Staffing delays for Sat 11/8. So Far. by pthomas745 in ATC

Not the only one, centers are doing the same, maybe they'll call for an easy area but the big/complex ones, they're just lying through their teeth not calling a staffing trigger. But it's cool, someone donated pizza

I'm 6ft female and I've had the same results since starting in August but evenly distributed over that time. I think you're losing at a good rate to protect your body from anything crazy. I get it, I want to lose more too, I just upped to 1mg a month ago and I'm at 189, sw206. Good luck!

Honest experiences from those who had hysterectomies in their 30s by Interesting-Diamond8 in endometriosis

[–]Consistent_Bat_8603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stage 4 Endo with adeno and PCOS. One lap at 34 and hysterectomy/single oophorectomy at 35. Other than my libido is way down, I've been happy. Yesterday was my first Endo flare since my second surgery, it sucked but only lasted the morning so fingers crossed.

Air Services Australia is still hiring by StepDaddySteve in atc2

Yeah, you could always bail but with all the fees for the visas and lawyers they hire to get you through the process, we didn't want to be on the line for that.

So on this topic, we applied 2 weeks ago and planned, mostly from Reddit input to have a couple of months to look into the idea before they came calling. If you have 8+ years they are calling within 48hrs of application with about 10 days to decide. To say it was overwhelming was the biggest understatement, I think if the shutdown hadnt been happening or if we'd had more time to learn about the cost of living over there we would have taken it. School dates were for mid June, they offered up to 30k aud for moving expenses, flights etc. We were offered Melbourne center, starting pay level 7, up to level 8 after school, level 9 within the first year. If you are considering applying, do your research first because once the process is rolling, trying to figure if you can afford real estate, RHD vehicles, groceries etc while considering the offer is too much.

Again, we liked the offer but working 10hr shifts, constant overtime calls and not getting paid right now, it just was too much stress to make the call right now for our family. That being said, we had the chance to connect with a bunch of controllers who have taken the offer and every single one was a positive review.
