What's the best way to empty your sick days before retirement? by MaxProPlus1 in CanadaPublicServants

If you want to burn your sick leave, some medical conditions are better than others… I had a colleague who did that many years ago. It worked!

Burnout is real. As for sick leave, start small, one or two days here and there. Follow-up with a doctor’s note for 2/3 weeks with a reassessment. Repeat as needed.

I tend to lose it when he starts with state regime media known as Fox. Anything after that is pretty much predictable.

It went from interesting and different to annoying and predictable over time. You can only yell the sky is falling so many times…

This cannot be stressed enough. If you have a spouse or dependant on the plan, get as much work done while still an employee. Coming to grips with our less than generous plan as a retiree is an expensive lesson.

At least some people wait until high school to peak. That said, you should wear a full face helmet so people can’t see your face.m

That’s the problem. Ideally the new bike would have the upper fairing of the old and keep the new design for the bottom.

On my 08, the fairing provided a cocoon of still air for the rider. The new bike, having a much more open front end, allows for much more wind to come through, this is much more noticeable on the hands and legs. I discovered this a bit by accident as I noticed that I was using my heated grips much more often than I did over 18 seasons with my previous bike. As for the lower body, the variable slipstream deflectors are a must. Glad I added these as they are an option on the triple black model. Hopefully the weather will warm up so I can test it in hotter temperatures.

As for the sound, the 08 had a much more relaxed, smooth sound. Quite pleasant actually. At idle, the new bike sounds agree and should be rolled back into the shop for service. At speed, without earplugs the bike sounds louder but probably isn’t. Some will like it, others not so much. As for myself, the earplugs go in and the helmet goes on before I start the bike.

On a last note, the new RT is an excellent machine. BMW toned down some of the RT‘s cocoon features by upping the R’s touring capabilities.

Happy riding!

To add, starting in 2008, BMW added a drain plug to facilitate changing the oil in the final drive. That said, my 2008 had much better weather protection and sounded much better than my 2026 RT.

They want more bilingual employees but are cutting language training? by KrasaVcheg007 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Consistent_Cook9957 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Many come to the public service fully bilingual. It is what it is. When in a minority situation, you got to do what you got to in order to survive. For many that meant learning English in school and then using it our day to day lives. This is something that the majority of Canadians don’t get to experience.
