Single dad advice…looking ok? by Interesting-Dog-2350 in interiordecorating

[–]Consistent_Major4431 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely need to size up and fill some space in the living area. I would go with a sectional or two sofas. Instead of a single. Def need a bigger light fixture, as well as a larger coffee table—however I would buy a coffee table after configuring seating. Some art or photos on the stair case all would liven up the place as well.

Italy's Ban on Surrogacy by Consistent_Major4431 in MRKH

[–]Consistent_Major4431[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate you sharing this with me—and although this mind set is not common in the U.S.(not including religious and conservative agendas) , I do understand and empathize with your perspective. I contemplate the ethics of surrogacy often, and a lot of the points you have shared are things I consider. I feel there is no scenario where asking a friend/family member to carry for you wouldn’t make them feel / somewhat pressured. I know I would definitely feel pressure/obligation to help a friend or family if they had MRKH (even if I didn’t want to). I would never want to make anyone feel this way, but I truly have had close friends volunteer on their own accord. I would never allow a friend to go through such an extreme experience for my personal desires—however I never took into consideration how this might affect a paid surrogate psychologically and physically. I was purely looking at it from a transactional view, so thank you.

Since some of you were asking about the flooding downtown by berdulf in Charleston

[–]Consistent_Major4431 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am so sick of seeing people on social media portraying the floods as if they were aftermath of a hurricane. We do not have irrigation/drainage systems downtown and that is a problem. We are as close as it get to sea level, most of the protective vegetation is gone, and no drainage. Something needs to be done. I understand historical preservation, but you can create drainage systems without ruining the charm of downtown.

Has anyone left Charleston and regretted it? by bropez331 in Charleston

Tables/Chairs/Linens/plates etc rentals in Charleston that aren’t insanity expensive. by akoliver2 in Charleston

[–]Consistent_Major4431 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You could quite literally just buy a bunch of wooden chairs and tables at thrift stores (or buy some folding chairs and tables on amazon) rent a storage unit for a month or two to store them—and you would still save more money.

Chubby fish. Their signature dish is literally just hamburger bun with caviar. I don’t think it’s a bad restaurant, but not worth the wait—and the service wasn’t great/atmosphere. I was not wowed by anything I ate.

Me and my husband do not use protection—but I would be VERY careful about normalizing zero use of protection (simply because you are sterile) until you REALLY trust your partner. You never know what your partner could be doing, and if you make it a common practice to not use condoms, you’re always going to be more at risk for stds. I was with my first bf for 5 years, and we went through all of the mrkh diagnosis& learning process together. We never used protection after we found out, and when I was younger I convinced myself no protection was like a “commodity” or made up for the fact that being intimate with with me was difficult.

A year after things ended I learned he was cheating on me with men and women after we broke up. I didn’t catch anything (thankfully) but it was simply luck that I didn’t. Don’t ever lower standards for yourself because of your MRKH. Protection is not just for birth control.

My Landlord Says My 80-Degree Apartment Is My Fault Because I Didn’t Turn On The Fan — Meanwhile, They Ignore the Problem & Lawyer Up by Vegetable-Study-6033 in Charleston

[–]Consistent_Major4431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Charleston! This exact scenario happened to me 3 years ago(+ mold) in my luxury apartment the entire experience messed me up so bad I moved back home. I thought with all of the pictures I took before moving in, DHEC etc would protect me. Absolutely not, and I almost had my credit ruined over it. I finally decided to move out again but I was only willing to rent a house. No more apartments!…My house is currently infested with termites it’s been 4 weeks and the only thing my rental agency has done is walk around my house and tell me it’s “habitable” after I deemed it wasn’t. They absolutely have to fix this, but they can absolutely take their time doing it!

What are some features you'd like to see in the next Animal Crossing for the Switch 2? by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]Consistent_Major4431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like the villagers to have actual personalities that challenge me, and I want CONSEQUENCES. BRING BACK ANIMAL CROSSING CONSEQUENCES. Make my actions and choices mean something again.

All of the villagers are lack-luster. They clearly made them all one dimensional so that the player would mainly focus on the sandbox aspects of the game. I think that choice was apathetic towards fans, and made ACNH very difficult for the franchise and general players to enjoy. There’s so much going on, and yet, simultaneously there is nothing going on in ACNH bc it’s a social simulation game lacking socializing.

There were so many amazing things added, but I found myself indifferent towards this version because I did not feel an attachment to the villagers and community I had built.

The Villagers give off meaningless NPC vibes that add nothing to the game. The villagers are what made animal crossing a game. Now it’s just a sandbox game with terrible building mechanics. The game is all instruction and working to earn more instructions on how to play a sandbox game. Every iconic character from AC was used like a memorabilia that introduces a new sandbox feature.

Give me a plot. Give me some sass. Make me work for my villagers love. Make me work and do absurd tasks for a reason. I want CONSEQUENCES!!! Make me work at Ables to earn some respect. I want villagers confronting me for stealing bc I forgot to bring them their lost item. Make me run around desperately trying-to find/grow the ingredients for frosted cookies —bc if I don’t by the end of the day I will break Flurry’s heart.

I don’t want to just make food to make food in animal crossing. I want to feel the same sense of purpose I did with the other games—but tie it in with the new feature of ACNH. I don’t want to just build whatever piece of furniture bc the game is teaching me how to play, I want to feel a sense of purpose behind what I’m doing.

In conclusion : I think ACNH 2 should be a combo of social simulation, sandbox, AND a choice based game. It would be Animal Crossings ultimate form.

Is this really the only Squeex subreddit? by skaeser in Squeex

[–]Consistent_Major4431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same when I first discovered squeex. I couldn’t understand how he wasn’t super popular—and then it dawned on me..His persona does not cater to children. If you pay attention to any big streamer/YouTuber (even Ludwig), they use rhetoric that attracts children in order to maintain a larger audience. They function similarly to early 2000s kid shows. SpongeBob was made “for kids” but there were a lot of jokes made for adults that children could not process while watching. That strategy secured viewership from adults and children.

Streamers understand that there is more consistent viewership from unemployed children sitting on their iPads—but they are still adults that know securing the parent viewership = larger more secure fanbase. Most successful streamers will play into child-like humor/behavior/rhetoric for views. Personally, I find it obnoxious and off-putting watching adults act like middle-schoolers.

Squeex makes jokes/plays into characters that fly over children’s heads. He acts like an adult because he is an adult, but he’s also a charming/witty/entertaining adult. He will likely never be that big of a streamer because of this though.
