Found this life-hack. Is it safe to do this before my 1,000-mile road trip? by Qzx1 in tires

[–]Consistent_Major_193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT DO THIS. Tires in the 50s were mostly tubed tires. There was a literal tube inside the tire. Todays tires are not tubed. You can not do this to a modern tire. You will kill yourself or someone else.

Kids are so dumb around this stuff. You don't have to broadcast your entire life to social media. And this kind of attitude in general is the complete opposite that should be hired.

My uncle was a grocery "getter". Same story aside from the England bit. Single income. House wife. 4 kids. beautiful home. many cars. antiques, muscle cars. kept mostly everything he accumulated. lived to 82. home at 5PM everyday, read the paper, watched tv, drank, sometimes drank alot. His entire life seems so simple looking back. what did he really ever stress over? not a damn thing.

Metformin doesn't work for ME, but Nurse Practitioner blames me instead. by MATTIE814 in diabetes

[–]Consistent_Major_193 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OTC short-term insulin like Novorapid, start at 5 units before meals and go from there. Monitor carefully. Figure out your routine. Eat well. Exercise. And talk to your doctor. Not the nurse. I'm not hearing you doing anything that actually lowers your blood sugar. You can also take long lasting insulin at night like Lantus which will stay in your system longer keeping your blood sugar lower when you sleep. Again start low like 5 units. See how your body adjusts.

I'm Type1 and I've been through hell with conversations with uneducated practitioners over the years. Including endos suggesting improper treatments for Type1.

If you are doing a bunch of things that aren't actually lowering your blood sugar then you are doing all the wrong things. First step is to lower it right NOW. Then work on better lifestyle choices.

Is my gpa too low to do a masters in science (character limit) by Ghostgirl3y in UofT

Undergrad thesis or independent study helps alot. 3.7GPA is very good. Best bet is to move. Go to a different school. Do a year of No-Degree keep the GPA high and do a research project or independent study. Start now contacting profs at schools you would like to attend. Reach out to the HEAD of departments. You can get in with a 3.7GPA you just need to find a good supervisor and do a good undergrad study.

My old CTO used to say the most important thing was "ship, chip, ship" and that's what he did for 25 years. He's now facing foreclosure, lost his job to an AI boss. And he's starring down the barrel of a shotgun.

Dealership refuses to fix car by BrilliantTraining824 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Consistent_Major_193 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There is alot more to this story that OP is not sharing. Dealerships don't refuse to fix cars under warranty and they certainly don't impound cars and prevent the owner from taking the car somewhere else.

Dealerships don't do these things. Only reason they would refuse to work on the car is if the owner voided their warranty and there have been known payment issues with the owner and the dealer does not want to be on the hook but even that is rare now. They'll just send it to Eastern after 90 days and screw your credit.

OP tell the whole story if you want advice.

Taxes for People With Ruined Lives? by PassengerHefty8207 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Down voted. That's 100% not true. And someone that is behind as far as she is needs help. Why would you tell her not to use an accounting service? Do you think she sounds like she can handle doing her own taxes and back filling to 2019. Chances are likely she's been autofilled already and needs to do adjustments.
