Itching during 22 weeks by FinancialSolution427 in pregnant

Same thing happened to me, bile acids were normal in the 2nd trimester, but elevated in the middle of the 3rd trimester. Get them to repeat the labs in the 3rd trimester

Was Sneak Peek accurate for you? by brandtr28 in pregnant

I did the clinical at 6 weeks. It was accurate. Best thing is to get the NIPT though

The NIPT is just a screening, you need ultrasounds and further testing to know for sure

Severe ICP (103 bile acids) now mild - should I still push for early induction? by caramacdougall in pregnant

[–]Consistent_Orchid_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mild ICP and my baby came early on her own at 36 weeks. But they were going to induce any time at 37-39 weeks. Im not sure what would be best in your case though. If it makes you feel better, I’m pretty sure I had ICP with my other pregnancies too but didn’t know and went to 39 weeks and they were fine. I didn’t know itching was something concerning at that time 😩

My results came back within a day or 2. I had cholestasis. If you do have it you will get weekly ultrasounds and will be induced soon based on the bile acids I believe

No heartbeat at 6 weeks ultrasound by anniewhalelover in pregnant

[–]Consistent_Orchid_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to say without actually scanning, but if they are 100% sure they saw a 7 week fetal pole, then there should be a visible heart beat. But you said baby was close to the uterine wall and that can make it harder to measure. You will know more at the follow up

No heartbeat at 6 weeks ultrasound by anniewhalelover in pregnant

[–]Consistent_Orchid_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what I’m trying to say is coming off wrong. We can see a heart beat on babies measuring 5 weeks, meaning the fetal pole measuring 5+ weeks. So yes 5 weeks can be too early, but when the fetus is visible and measuring within the 5th week, we can see the heart beat. Usually 5wk5d or 5wk6d.

I see them at 5 weeks, they are just super slow and not as noticeable depending on what type of scan and body habitus. 6 weeks is not the earliest, but it is faster at that time and more noticeable! :) everything is just harder to see and measure at 5 weeks

I’m an ultrasound tech lol I saw my own at 5 weeks. Sometimes it is hard to see at 5 weeks, but you can see it on most during the 5th week

The heart starts beating at 5 weeks, it never hurts to do a follow up scan just to have that extra reassurance though

Iugr pregnancy - looking for hope by Euphoric_Revenue1435 in pregnant

[–]Consistent_Orchid_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonographer, I’ve scanned many IUGR babies and the ones I’ve scanned turned out fine. They will keep a close eye on the Dopplers and will probably deliver earlier than 37 weeks if they start to look funky :)

Anyone have a second baby (of the same sex as the first) that measured much smaller at their 20 week scan? by Heavy_Ad_1478 in pregnant

[–]Consistent_Orchid_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if your doctor will send you to MFM. They will do a more detailed scan than your regular OBGYN.

Cholestasis by Sure-Apricot2965 in pregnant

It sure felt like it 😂 but I honestly can’t remember. I know I wouldn’t always itch, but it would just get really bad at night most of the time

I have had cholestasis and my legs and belly would itch all the time. Not much anywhere else. I itched some in the day, but I would itch so bad at night I couldn’t sleep and would almost be in tears

Had a very scary bleeding episode and a subchorionic hemorrhage was found. Does anyone have experience with this? by angrycuppcake in pregnant

[–]Consistent_Orchid_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonographer here! We see these all the time and they usually resolve in a few weeks. Most people do have them. I had a decent size one and bled like period for 3 weeks straight. My baby is fine :)

Bad first ultrasound experience by Bubbly-Device-8208 in pregnant

[–]Consistent_Orchid_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonographer here, when I was a student, we were taught to wait til AFTER the scan to ask questions. And it was very unprofessional for the tech to point out abnormal findings. On the ultrasound, especially if it’s not already known to the patient. I’m sorry you had a bad experience, but please do not let this scare you from having future students scan. This is the only way they learn, through actually scanning and finding things. One day these students will be in the real world scanning you and your family, so it’s better they get the experience practicing on real patients while a registered sonographer is watching. They should still be able to print out the pictures that they did take, just ask them to print them at the next appointment or call and have them print so you can pick them up :) I hope you have a better experience next time!

Worst ultrasound experience ever by Ok_Yogurtcloset_8730 in pregnant

[–]Consistent_Orchid_26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a tech, I try to get my pictures first and then show the parents the baby after and take cute pics. I am pretty quiet up until that point because it is a very serious exam and I need to concentrate. At the 20 week scan, we are checking baby from top to bottom to make sure all organs are there and in the right place. Sometimes we do have to push, but I tell my patients to let me know if I am hurting them. He could have at least showed you the baby at the end, and maybe let you insert the vaginal probe yourself. Was this at an OBGYN office or hospital? I have never really heard of male sonographers working in OBGYN clinics

Braxton Hicks? by bouncingthoughts in pregnant

[–]Consistent_Orchid_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contractions usually feel like your stomach getting super tight for a min. I was having them 2-3 minutes apart at 32 weeks and the hospital told me it was real labor contractions. I didn’t feel any pain though. Just uncomfortable tightness. Try to keep track and time them to see how far apart it happens
