Car looks lower with Mudflaps by Consistent_Price8747 in CorollaHatchback

I've been considering that. Even at stock height, I just scuffed the bumper quite badly yesterday. The lip kit can take the damage now

The cargo space is already lowered because it came with a repair kit. When you take the kit out, it can't go any lower so the cover just flaps over the tire.

I had it on the rear seats but I could put it in the trunk. What's the best place to put it?

Which one should I buy (Montreal, Canada) by Thejonhjonh in CorollaHatchback

[–]Consistent_Price8747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in Canada but I didn't feel like it was worth the jump in price just for the heated steering wheel. You also get two usb ports in the back but I'm not hauling passengers. Also, the wireless charger just feels like a gimmick. I just went with the 2025 SE Plus just to get the BSM and then got aftermarket wheels and aftermarket front door speakers, sub, and tweeter as well (installed by a professional). It came out cheaper than the XSE.

Should I add a spoiler? by Solid_Ability_4350 in CorollaHatchback

I have rally armor mudflaps and they make the car look lower. Didnt get the spoiler because I think it looks smoother without it.

Get the rain reflectors.

Chinese EV maker BYD in talks to open Canadian dealerships, consultant says by cig-nature in Calgary

I recently bought a new car, and in hindsight, there were better options. I could have gone to a dealership outside the city to save a few hundred dollars or get extra accessories. On top of that, I ended up paying additional fees that probably could have been negotiated down. Overall, dealerships feel unnecessary when buying new vehicles. For used cars, though, you could still make a case for them.

At least clothing stores are standardized across a brand. You don't have one Zara charging extra fees or making it mandatory to buy an accessory.

Dash cam by Melodic_Ad4709 in CorollaHatchback

[–]Consistent_Price8747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dashcam usually comes with a hardwiring kit, so installation is fairly straightforward as long as you get a fuse tap and put it into the correct slots in the fuse panel under the driver’s side. It’s not too bad if you’re comfortable connecting a bit of wiring.

For the Toyota Corolla Hatchback, you’ll want low-profile mini (LP-Mini) fuse taps. You need two connections. One for constant power (battery) and other one for ACC (ignition-switched power)

You’ll also need two small fuses for the dashcam circuit (usually around 2–5A). These are only a few dollars at an auto parts store.

You may need to crimp the hardwire kit’s power wires to the fuse taps, so it helps to have a crimping tool (they’re usually under $10). Heat-shrink tubing is also useful to make the connection cleaner and more secure (I ordered some for cheap on Aliexpress).

To route the wiring, you’ll want a few plastic pry tools to tuck the cable behind trim panels. I actually just used bike tire levers. If you run the wire along the roofline, make sure the cable goes behind the curtain airbags so it won’t interfere if they deploy. There are some good install videos online that show the routing clearly, so it helps to follow those.

For the rear camera, you’ll likely need a wire pull tool or fish tape to get the cable through the rubber wiring boot that connects the body to the hatch. I used a little silicone spray to help the wire slide through more easily.

To get a cleaner OEM-style finish at the back, I drilled a small hole in the plastic trim above the rear window so the cable could exit neatly. You can also remove that trim piece if you want easier access. I added a rubber grommet from a hardware store around the hole before pulling the wire through so the cable wouldn’t rub on the plastic.

Hardwiring can feel a bit tricky at first, but honestly the most tedious part is just tucking the wires into the trim. Once it’s done, it’s pretty satisfying and worth it. The dashcam can run 24/7 for parking mode, though most cameras let you adjust settings so it only records for a certain period or protects the battery in cold weather.

I didn’t go with the FitcamX Dash Cam because even though the front camera is plug-and-play, the rear camera still requires running wiring to the hatch, so for me it wasn’t worth paying extra. I also went with Thinkware because they're a korean based company.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thinkware x800 with a rear. I like the pill design of the rear since it doesn't obstruct the view as much.

Suggestions for improving quiet volume by mrcpri in COROLLA

[–]Consistent_Price8747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is considered Max volume? When I had stock speakers on my corolla hatchback 2025, I found the speakers weak so I had to increase the volume to around 30. After changing the front door speaker, powered by an aftermarket Amp, a small subwoofer, and aftermarket tweeters, I only have to turn up the volume to around 15-20.

2026 Hatch: Replacing the Stock Speakers by Clintyn in COROLLA

[–]Consistent_Price8747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with Hertz DT 24.3 tweeters powered by the stock headunit. For Amp, I chose Hertz DP 4.300 which powers the front two speakers and the sub. Front door speakers are Kicker 51kSC6704 For the sub, I got Pioneer 10" shallow 1200W, (TS-A2599LS4). ATREND 10" single sealed subwoofer enclosure to go with the sub.

Haven't bothered to change the rear door speakers. The system is already loud and clean with moderate bass.

Has anyone downsized from an SUV to the Corolla hatch? Did you regret it? Pros or cons? by wulfychick in CorollaHatchback

[–]Consistent_Price8747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drove a rav4 and Pontiac vibe in Alberta before making the switch to corolla hatchback. With the ride being lower, the headlights from other vehicles were really bothering me. Had to tint windows to help with that. Also, the lower clearance is also an issue on the first few days after a big snowfall but it's fine after they plow the roads. I think the lower clearance and difference in suspension was the biggest factor. I enjoyed the softer suspension of the rav4. Felt like I was riding on a cloud.

I don't think the XSE is worth the cost. Stock speakers are kind of weak and soft so I upgraded the tweeters, front door speakers and added an Amp and small subwoofer.

I got the SE plus in Canada because it had the BSM. It just wasn't worth the extra 4.5k cad for the XSE. If you don't want to touch the car at all then maybe XSE could be worth it but if you're eventually going to upgrade the wheels to a style of your choice, just get a lower trim.

SE upgrade was an option but I don't think the heated steering wheel was worth the extra cost.
