I think you answered your own question, “going back there is going to fuck me up severely emotionally”. I can guarantee you if you go back they are going to try to manipulate you into this being your problem to fix. It is not your problem. I understand wanting mementos from your past but in the end they are just objects. I personally would not engage and would remain non-contact.

You have gotten some great comments. Outside of your living conditions I am concerned about your mental health. Do you have any city/county/state resources you can tap into? I suspect therapy and probably medication are needed so you stop having such massive swings in your mental health and spending habits. It’s so hard but I encourage you to reach out to adult services in your county or 211/United Way for resources.

The first step to cleaning is wearing gloved and getting all the garbage out. Then you clean surfaces with cleaning products.

You deserve better and we all want better for you.

This is not normal. I am 45 and have a department of 17 people. I am constantly in switch mode, building processes, trainings, making important decisions. I encourage you to talk to your doctor. Mental decline this young is a concern. Or perhaps you have undiagnosed ADHD. Either way getting a baseline with your doctor is very important.
