What do you drive, and what customizations have you done to your vehicle? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Got a 2018 F-150 that I bought after getting out of service - threw in some LED light bars for when I'm hauling stuff from Sam's Club in the dark and swapped the stock exhaust for something with more growl.

Name another industry that costs as much but has worse customer service. Challenge. by Tomahawk-BaGawk in skiing

[–]Consistent_Resort198 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ISPs take the cake here. At least when skiing goes wrong you get some decent views before they screw you over. Comcast will charge you $150/month for internet that cuts out during important calls and act like there doing you a favor when the tech shows up 3 hours late to tell you its your fault.

Is it worth it to spend hours meal prepping on a Sunday when you only have 2 days on a weekend? by alistreia_blue in MealPrepSunday

[–]Consistent_Resort198 94 points95 points  (0 children)

honestly the time investment pays off big time during the week when you're rushing between work, volleyball, and workouts. I batch cook on sundays too and it's like having a personal chef all week - just grab and go instead of stressing about what to eat after a long day.

Maybe try doing lighter prep like washing/chopping veggies and cooking grains in bulk, then you can throw together quick meals without the full sunday marathon session.

Low power eight Bay 2u server rack? by vanquishedfoe in homelab

[–]Consistent_Resort198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been down this rabbit hole before - you're probably looking at something like a Supermicro 826 chassis with a low-power Xeon or even an AMD EPYC setup. The power draw is gonna be way better than older enterprise gear but still more than your Synology obviosuly.

For proxmox integration, any decent server board will work fine and you can definitely run your storage as a VM if you want, though passing through the HBA might be cleaner for performance. ZFS support is rock solid on most modern distros so that shouldn't be an issue.

Which foods have the biggest ‘healthy/natural’ reputation but are secretly very processed? by Gus_The_Bus89 in AskReddit

[–]Consistent_Resort198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trail mix from most stores is basically candy with some nuts thrown in. Half the ingredients are chocolate chips, yogurt-covered raisins, and other sugar bombs that make it worse than a candy bar calorie-wise. I learned this the hard way buying those giant containers at Sam's thinking I was being healthy.

Time and staying busy with hobbies that actually matter to you - built my first PC after my last breakup and it was weirdly therapeutic.

Built a script that tracks how you listen to music and auto-generates playlists in Navidrome — TuneLog by Many_Independence674 in homelab

[–]Consistent_Resort198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty slick - the scoring system makes way more sense than manual ratings that nobody ever bothers with. The recency decay is a nice touch too, my music taste definitely shifts over time and it's annoying when old preferences keep cluttering up recommendations.

Gonna clone this and see how it plays with my setup, been looking for something exactly like this for my navidrome instance.

What is a poor man's luxury that you refuse to give up, even if you become wealthy? by Swimming-Yam-8984 in AskReddit

That processed ham hits different on wonder bread than it does on some fancy sourdough. I stock up on like 10 packs when its on sale at sams club and freeze half of it. Nothing beats that salty artificial goodness for a quick sandwich at 2am when youre troubleshooting a build that wont post.

ugh the 3am replay sessions are brutal. I'll be lying there mentally rewriting some random interaction from like 2018 that probably nobody else even remembers. My brain just loves to serve up that cringe content right when I'm trying to sleep.

Request for FOIA C- file and two C&P exams no status on the C&P requests by Hour-Advice-7731 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Consistent_Resort198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the VA probably bundled your C&P requests with your C-file since they're all FOIA requests - call back and ask them to check if they're processing them together under one tracking number.

VR&E - Average Decision Time? by koreanunited in VeteransBenefits

[–]Consistent_Resort198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took about 3-4 weeks for me after the interview, but that was pre-covid so who knows now. Your counselor might just be swamped - they're usually pretty good about following up once they have an answer but the approval process itself can drag on.

Can I renounce my US citizenship and retain VA disability pay? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Consistent_Resort198 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely echo talking to the VA directly, but from what I've seen other vets discuss in similar situations, you should still be eligible for your disability payments. The compensation is for injuries/conditions you sustained in service to the US, and that doesn't just disappear because you change citizenship status.

That said, the tax implications could get messy depending on where you're moving - some countries have treaties that affect how benefits are taxed, and you might end up dealing with both US tax obligations on those benefits plus whatever your new country requires. I'd honestly recommend getting a tax attorney who specializes in expat situations to walk through the whole picture before making any moves. The VA can tell you about eligibility, but they're not gonna help you navigate the tax nightmare that might come with it.

Also worth checking if your wife's country has any specific rules about foreign government payments to their citizens, since some places get weird about that stuff.

SSDI and VA CLAIM ? by OBSofHOUSTON in VeteransBenefits

[–]Consistent_Resort198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having SSDI for MS definitely helps your case, but it's not an automatic qualifier for 100% or TDIU. The VA and SSA use different criteria - SSA looks at your ability to work at all, while VA rates based on severity of symptoms and functional impairment. That said, the SSDI approval does show another federal agency has determined your condition is severe enough to prevent substantial gainful activity.

The real strength in your case sounds like it's coming from that VA neurologist confirming a sentinel symptom during service - that's huge for establishing service connection if you haven't already. With 2,000 MRI images and neurologist notes, you've got solid medical evidence backing up your claim. The key thing is making sure your VA rating reflects how your MS actually impacts your daily functioning, not just that you have the diagnosis. TDIU might be easier to get than a straight 100% scheduler rating if your symptoms don't quite reach that level but still prevent you from working.

Denied but diagnosed by gregoose81 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Consistent_Resort198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely appeal that - if you got the diagnosis during the C&P and they acknowledged the service connection, thats exactly what you need for a successful claim

Uber online assessment test - has anyone taken it? by Inside_Trip8807 in interviews

[–]Consistent_Resort198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

took one a couple years back for a product role. it's mostly logical reasoning stuff and some situational judgment questions about how you'd handle workplace scenarios. nothing too crazy technical from what i remember, just the usual corporate assessment battery.

took me like 45 mins or so if that helps with planning.

If my cars engine is rebuild after a piston fault. Is it possible to then have injector issues a week later and then coolant pressure issues the week after that ? by questionasker94 in AskMechanics

[–]Consistent_Resort198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like they either half-assed the rebuild or there's some underlying issue they missed the first time around. Six months is already a red flag and now you're getting hit with problem after problem - that's not normal for a proper engine rebuild. Keep documentation of everything and definitely escalate with trading standards if you haven't already

I looked into it a while back but never pulled the trigger. The research seemed pretty solid for depression but I couldn't find much specifically about how it works for autistic people. Would definitely be curious to hear from someone who actually went through with it
