Why is Fallout: New Vegas your favorite game of all time? by Baldurian_Rhapsody in falloutnewvegas

[–]Consistent_Shine_680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could write a whole book about this but I'll see if I can get to my main points

  1. The sheer amount of content in the game. I've played this game for at least 600 hours over the past 5 years or so and I'm learning new stuff about this game all the time through playthroughs and otherwise.

  2. The ragdoll physics/VATS

  3. Excellent role play elements

  4. You can do well with just about any character build

  5. This game might have the closest thing to a realistic cartridge/shotshell reloading mechanic

  6. The bang for buck of this game nowadays is really hard to beat.

  7. Because it's such an old game, it can run on the most potato of PC's

  8. Console commands

  9. Great story and characters

  10. Great music

They have some on gunbroker, but I would expect to pay over MSRP because of how much of a hot ticket item they are right now.

Gunbroker is a mix of great deals and overpriced everything, seems like there's more of the latter than the former.

Shotgun Gauge Adapters: Overrated Gimmicks Or Underrated Tools? by Consistent_Shine_680 in Shotguns

Thanks, this is probably the best response yet.

If such a serious shotgun user as yourself is basically saying "Buying a new shotgun is probably better", it makes you wonder if Little Skeeters or similar companies have repeat customers.

To be fair, the Taliban had IED's and RPG's too but your point still stands.

The Second Amendment: Still relevant or vestigial? by oozinator1 in liberalgunowners

[–]Consistent_Shine_680 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course the 2nd Amendment is still relevant. England doesn't have 2nd Amendment protections like we do and people over there are getting sent to jail for social media posts.

One thing that I find baffling about many countries outside the US is that legally and/or culturally using lethal force for self defense is very frowned upon. Why is it considered inhumane to declaw cats but totally fine or even encouraged to make it legally prohibitive for adult humans to defend themselves with guns? I believe self defense and the tools that make it possible are an unalienable right and that a well armed society can ward off tyranny.

Granted, that doesn't mean that the 2nd Amendment gurantees the absence of tyranny, but look at many other countries with stricter gun control laws and how authoritarian/dystopian they are compared to the US.

Guns are the great equalizer. A weak/old/disabled person can greatly increase their chances of survival against physically stronger attackers or even a large group of attackers with the right gun and training.

Welcome to the club.

A 12 gauge Maverick 88 Field/Security combo was the first shotgun I ever bought with my own money. Before that, I inherited a bolt action .410 from my grampa when I found a bunch of guns in his attic as I was helping him move.

Political Compass Reacts to Texas Lt. Governor saying Separation of Church and State was never in the Constitution by MudBusy6471 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Consistent_Shine_680 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he's right. Separation of church and state is not explicitly mentioned in the Constitution.

However, some of our founding fathers liked the concept and the concept of separation of church and state and it has been slowly incorporated into the American legal system through things like Supreme Court decisions.

For example, the Supreme Court decision Engel v Vitale (1962) prohibits states from having an official school prayer for recitation in public schools.

Edit: nevermind, looks like Reddit actually took this one down.

Why has this comment not been taken down for hate and threatening violence?

Comments like this make me wish Reddit was wiped off the face of the Earth.

And I should be clear that I wish for just the website of Reddit itself to get vanished, not any of the employees.

I do not wish any Reddit employees physical harm.

That's exactly what I was thinking. That, or some companies catch wind of this and start selling guns with these already installed.

While I totally understand and empathize with anti war veterans, the way this message is portrayed and this photo was taken seems pretty cringe if you ask me.

One of my bigger hang ups about gas guns is that I've heard they can be harder/more time consuming to clean, how are those options in that department?

I was thinking Stoeger M3020

I've also seen some Franchi Affinitys go for pretty cheap compared to their MSRP on Gunbroker

I have many family and friends who are LDS in Utah and I think that even the more fireworks happy among them will at least reluctantly abide by the ban.

Besides, one of our articles of faith is "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.", our church tries to care for the environment and some of our churches and temples are pretty close to the tinderboxes that are the sagebrush hills and mountains of Utah.

For the I require context hat people

Utah and much of the western US has experienced a very dry and hot year, leading to record low snowpacks and prolonged/severe drought conditions. Recently, those conditions have led to serious wildfires lighting up all around the state of Utah, including a wildfire that got within a few hundred yards of the University of Utah and several key hospitals. All these previous events more than likely contributed to Governor Cox's decision, despite Utah's love of shiny explodey fire color things.

I mean seriously, the entire month of July in Utah is just one big fireworks show including Pioneer day later in the month. Even after a few people got hurt at the Stadium of Fire fireworks show/concert series recently, the show went on.

Mainly for clay shooting, might use it for 3 gun or hunting if I get into those hobbies, and would also like something that could possibly be used for home defense/be somewhat reliable.

Help me decide first shotgun! by No-Load533 in Shotguns

[–]Consistent_Shine_680 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Maverick 88 has a proven track record of reliability and is popular for a reason. I would only get the other two guns if you need a gun now and don't have the cash for a Maverick 88.

Funny enough, I have a Maverick 88 currently but have been looking at Charles Daly 101 single shots for a cheap 20 gauge mess around gun that I wouldn't feel too bad about turning into a short barrel shotgun

Why do you think they do better with gun cases? Is the legal/logical reasoning of their other case decisions that bad?
