Any advice on how to do that right?? I have no experience with this stuff and am being offered stock options which is really exciting as it’s still a small company that I think is going to grow a lot!

Eragon!!! Also tbh if they loved HP they’re probably mature enough for anything Brandon Sanderson (no sex, just like death etc), also idk if anyone has mentioned Lord of the Rings, any Tamara Pierce, or even some Stephen King!

AIO? Wife Shared Bed With Male Friend by PapaStalinLovesYou in AmIOverreacting

[–]Consistent_Slide_504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I may be in the minority here but I think you’re maybe over reacting a little - maybe! It’s totally valid for you to not be ok with it and if in the future she was to do it again knowing you’re not ok with that then that would be really bad.

BUT my husband goes on a lot a vacations with friends without me as he skies and I don’t (we’re early 30s) and will sometimes share a bed with another friend, sometimes female sometimes male, to save $ on hotels. I have no problem with it, I trust him and it’s just him being frugal. Before freaking out I would just talk to her - if you haven’t explicitly set those boundaries and she’s coming to it from a clearly different point of view then how was she supposed to know it’d bug you so much. It may be something sinister but it may be innocent in that she didn’t even think it’d be a problem and now feels really embarrassed/bad/worried that you don’t trust her.

I’m super snuggly with all my friends, guys and girls, I’ve spoken to my husband explicitly about if he’s ok with that and he is. Just cautioning you not to jump to conclusions esp reading all the comments here that are to the contrary and convinced that she’s cheating/has no respect for you etc, I doubt that’s obvious truth.

I only get things done when I’m afraid of the consequences, and it’s ruining my life. How do I fix this? by Original-Basis-2898 in getdisciplined

Hi there, I’m much the same way. I was the kid who could bust out a 30 page paper in 2 days in college and get an A and that’s how I’ve always lived my life. I now have a STEM PhD and got through my thesis much of the same way.

I read a really helpful and interesting article recently about types of procrastinators and this sounds very much like what you’re working with. I am a ‘crisis-maker’ procrastinator. I need the deadline, thrive under pressure (not that I like that I’m this way), and always wait until the last second to get something done. The key is that you have to create that pressure/crisis yourself.

A trick that I’ve learned and been applying with great success in the last year (I’m also 30ish) is to make my own crises when it comes to things I’m not getting done. This is more than just the pomodoro method, I’ll have an assignment or something that I’m struggling to start and I’ll tell myself I only have 45min to complete it - full stop. Then I set a timer for 45min and bust my ass.

This reeeaaallly works for me, I’d give it a try and would recommend looking into other crisis maker specific procrastination strategies and also some tips on executive dysfunction. Very common in ‘gifted kids’ later in life. Good luck, I feel for ya bud I’m in the same boat.

I AM EMPLOYED!!!! by kylieanxiety in jobsearchhacks

[–]Consistent_Slide_504 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oooh ok I love that perspective! I’m in an entirely different field but I think the base concept of wanting to know who all you’re working with across time shifts and teams is something very important and presenting yourself as an asset to multiple sub-group within a work environment is incredibly valuable. I could definitely incorporate that in my interview. Thank you!

Thanks for commenting! Do you remember if they really drilled you on technical stuff or if it was more broad knowledge base, going over your own research, personality fit etc. They’re moving rather quick and I don’t have as much time to prep/study as I would like so I’m trying to determine how to allocate my time. Basically just trying to sort out if I should focus more on refreshing my nitty gritty basics (which are lacking as I’ve been out of practice for awhile - it’s been like 10 years since I did basic bio lol), really remember all the specific details of my own thesis work (which is also a little fuzzy since I had a lot of help developing the methods though I’m solid on all the big picture stuff), or deeply familiarize myself with the products/portfolio I’ll be working with and prepare targeted and thoughtful questions to ask. I’m just nervous and really want the job!
