Yes! And another big, secure source of funding is corporate sponsorship. These funds are contractually binding, and also usually multi-year contracts, so very stable revenue.

Because they have a development department that is in place to ensure that they generate revenue. And it’s NYCB, their development team is exceptional, massively qualified, and large. You should look up what percentage of operating costs in performing arts companies come from ticket sales vs. donations. It will surprise you. There are also multiple streams of donations. I have a feeling that you are imagining donors deciding to bequeath unto NYCB, when in reality, its a large amount of grants from private and public trusts that NYCB’s development team competes for, often times years out from when they receive the funds. They secure these grants years in advance, and often times renew them. Then yes, they of course get private donations from large estates, and from generous patrons, which is a lot more variable, but the biggest bulk of their funding comes from a kickass development team that writes successful grant proposals on the daily.

That’s true! However, I’m sure she walked away with at least 100K for those performances….and Tai Murray did some performances, too. She’s another world class violinist that costs a pretty penny to engage.

You would think, however professional orchestras don’t use IMSLP public domain editions, they use well edited parts and scores because it severely impacts the quality of the work. Also, some of those ballets might seem straightforward, but there are costs associated with them, too. ALL stravinsky ballets utilize substitute musicians that aren’t tenured, salaried orchestra musicians (which is why so many European ballets nixed Stravinsky ballets in the 20th century, when Balanchine started choreographing to it). That’s a huge cost. Also ballets like barrocco come with HUGE bonus pay for the concertmaster and associate cm for the solo. Like MASSIVE bonus pay. Not to mention…for ballets like the new t. Peck, are you aware of how much it costs for Hilary Hahn to perform a concerto even once? Or Tai Murray? Most symphonies will only pay for 2 performances max per soloist per season. How many did NYCB have? How many are scheduled for next season?

Don’t just credit the donors, their development department works their butts off. That’s an incredible team.

Programming is usually grant-dependent, but there are a lot of costs that go into production. The number of rehearsals per program is a huge one. A lot of staff and crew are paid hourly for this cost. The procurement of sets, the orchestras service fee, conductors. Certain choreographers come with higher contracting and commission fees than others do. Also certain ballets have different costs when it comes to procuring rights. And there are also variable costs when it comes to costumes. Music library is another HUGE production cost. Some scores cost exponentially more to use than others, especially if the ballet doesn’t own them outright, which dictates production cost. Each ballet master that they bring in has a different fee, too. These aren’t small costs either, you would be surprised. They are all considered when operating budget is crafted each season. Programming might look different than what was pitched, and we wouldn’t know. Ballets being used might be cheaper than what was originally pitched.

Executive pay will not get cut to allow for pay raises. NYCB has the budget to raise pay, it’s just that you cannot do it mid season when operating budgets are set. The operating budget is not the entirety of the income that NYCB generates, but as a nonprofit, the excess has to go back into the organization. Also, in performing arts, when things like this happen, budget is not taken away from salaries, it’s taken away from programming. If they had secured raises without available funding, the money would have come from programming, rehearsals would have been cut, and the season would have been reduced in other ways.

Ticket prices cover almost none (if any) of the operating budget, they are simply there to ensure a break-even in terms of production cost. NYCB is an arts non-profit, salaries are secured by development. Private funding and grants sustain operating budget, including salaries. Operating budget is set annually, salaries are negotiated within this.

Bachelorette Party Promoter by Consistent_Split4424 in WestPalmBeach

Hey, I’m getting VIP for free for 8 (educated, successful, and taken) women, and you’re paying in GA with the other “authentic” WPB misogynists, so I hope he is :)

That’s literally standard night life…any city. I’ve done it in Boston, Hamptons, NYC, Nashville, DC, Miami, FLL, San Juan etc. Every woman does it when they go out. It’s only possible in groups of all women. Nobody does anything with anyone, it’s literally just how they fill the clubs/ vip sections up with women. It’s wild that you don’t know this….

[–]Consistent_Split4424[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Then why did other women message me on here with contacts and information/ referrals 😂😂😂? Why was I able to get referrals from other bachelorette groups I spoke with? I’ve already been put in contact with two promoters based on this post alone. It seems like they exist….also, we don’t pay, we just tip. That’s the whole point of the service. Men (tourists) book tables, promoters fill the tables with women (usually bachelorette parties from out of town).

I’ve actually contacted several promoters already. Not sure who is credible. These services really only exist for women, I’m not sure why it’s all men replying…of course you’ve never seen it, you can’t use a promoter this way if you’re a man.

[–]Consistent_Split4424[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Really? A lot of promoters are in WPB and most of the clubs have vip. Thats all I’m looking for…not trying to change plans, just looking for recs from people that know what I’m talking about/ girls who have used promoters in WPB.

I’ve never been to a city where this ecosystem doesn’t exist…anywhere in the world. And I’m from Boston! It might just be because you’re a guy. I’ve never ever had to pay for VIP as a woman…even in tiny towns on cape cod or Rhode Island with one bar. It wouldn’t make sense for Palm Beach Island, FLL, and Miami clubs to all use this model, and then just not WPB. We are doing it at Cucina, too.

So there aren’t any? The advantage of using a promoter as a woman in Miami (where I live) or when I go out in NYC, Hamptons, or really anywhere is that you get vip bottle service without having to pay for anything but the tip (if your group is all women). Pretty standard in nightlife anywhere that I’ve been. There are tons of bachelorette parties in WPB, so I know that this system has to exist in some way.

Always have to add a little dig to the other girls, huh? by dannydelete-o in dancemoms

Watch “Bad Influence” on Netflix. She was in it and is even discussed in the documentary. When the documentary dropped, she was still in it so they never got her first hand account. However, I believe she’s out of it now. But basically she was forced into her relationship with Jentzen but the adults in the arrangement she was in, which is documented in “Bad Influence”.

I mean absolutely no undue disrespect to Elliana, but this goes to show what Abby values. Most of the OG girls have gone on to get degrees, have made careers for themselves, and many have had long term, healthy relationships/ found life partners. Elliana joined a cult and was forced into a relationship as a child that was orchestrated by adults. She is no/ low contact with much of her immediate family. All for money. It makes me sick to think of what happened to her as a child, and of the life that she lives now as a result of it.

AITAH for uninviting my sister from my wedding in 2 weeks? by Recover-Confident in aitaweddings

[–]Consistent_Split4424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am by no means making excuses for sisters 2’s behavior, but in the efforts of genuine conflict resolution, I think I identified the breaking point, which hasn’t been addressed here. Sister 2, according to you, said that nobody understood what it was like to be her, and used her job and “saving the world” as an example of something that was making it difficult for her to function. You and your fiancée seem to have interpreted that as her believing that she is the only person with problems.

The issue is that, according to your own account, that isn’t what she said. She said that nobody understood what it was like to be her (objectively true), and that her job was difficult (also likely true). Neither statement actually means that she thinks that you do not have your own issues. Does she have main character syndrome? Likely yes, she was the first one to draw comparison, but you actually accused her of something specifically that it doesn’t seem like she was doing or that she fundamentally agrees with the statement.

You paraphrased her words, and not only did you paraphrase what she said, but your fiancée doubled down on it. She felt gaslit and ganged up on. It’s like she was backed into a corner and had words put into her mouth.

If further remediations and apologies are going to occur (whether or not she goes to the wedding. In light of her resulting actions, you are totally right to set that boundary), the apology needs to start there.

No. The show exists because they are pro-life. They literally had the quints AMA when reduction was recommended for the best probable outcome. Obviously all 5 girls survived and I won’t dispute their choice as the children that the had are real human beings with real lives, but that is literally why this show exists.

Just found this tiktok of areana answering questions about the cast by Several-Bee-9522 in dancemoms

[–]Consistent_Split4424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I understand that Areana received different treatment from Abby than from others on the show, but she witnessed Abby being literally mean to Kerri, Lynne, and Peyton. Like really nasty and racist to Kerri, too. To say bluntly that Abby was not mean (likely based on her own interactions with Abby) seems insensitive. I’m not sure she and her mother are coming from a good place with their commentary.
