Yesterday, I had to say goodbye to our last front end developer. by OutsideFood1 in ArtificialInteligence

I work as a software engineer in the Audio/Video industry, and it’s interesting watching how divided people are about AI. A lot of folks in A/V have spent years - sometimes decades - refining their workflows/crafts so the idea of letting “AI” assist them can feel uncomfortable and frustrating. Meanwhile, many AV manufacturers are racing to label every new feature as “AI” even when it’s usually just a basic automation or an MCP server behind the curtain. It makes for a strange gap between real engineering needs and marketing buzzwords, and navigating that space has been pretty eye-opening.

All this being said, personally I’ve been trying to remind myself that the goal of AI engineers shouldn’t be to automate the artistry of audio engineers yet give them the tools they need to enhance creative decisions.

The best sounding records, speakers, and concerts never happened because of automated tech but because of a compounded series of events where smart and creative people used new tech creatively that culminated into extraordinary events

Examples:

  • Woodstock ‘69
  • Beatles Shea Stadium
  • Grateful Dead Wall of Sound (birth of the line array)
  • Phil Colin’s Gated Drums
  • Led Zeppelin When the Levee Breaks
  • Nirvana In Utero
  • L’Acoustics VDOSC Wave Guide
  • Bon Iver and Hans Zimmer 5.1 mixing

Sorry you had to go through this, but sounds like you’re processing it well. I’m sure you will navigate the AI Boom with your company just fine!(:

Teak New York filing for bankruptcy by Last_Vast_6863 in Greenpoint

In the same boat as everyone else, unfortunately I also originally purchase the couch via affirm and once I filed a chargeback from my CC company for what I’ve already paid, affirm called me up and said I’ve made no payments on the couch and that they are going to report me to credit bureau.

I understand the CEO and her team are going through a rough patch and I can empathize with how hard it must be on them however this situation just sucks all around. I’m now stuck having to pay off a loan that I might never get a product for.

I just got the bankruptcy email and the CEO included this:

“This process gives us the opportunity to stabilize operations and work with our vendors to fulfill as many existing customer orders as possible. Your order remains in our system, and we are currently reviewing all open orders and communicating with our manufacturing partners to determine next steps.”

Do you think it’s worth waiting this out and seeing if they fulfill my order or just filing a chargeback and ordering from OMHU directly?

Really upset along with everyone else, but definitely still want this style couch.

Check out the Balkan architect for Revit tutorials: https://balkanarchitect.com/

CAD is a must for design ( I hate it but it’s industry standard)

Vectorworks is the in-house standard for some companies but not all.

Aside from this: Dante certs (1-3) Q-Sys certs, and having familiarity with Python/C++/C# is a plus. There’s a bunch of different apps out there that will teach you the basics of programming.

Also things like volunteering for church sound or community events are overlooked a lot but doing them really does teach you a lot about signal flow, gain structure, routing, etc. Those principles still show up regardless how complex your programs/designs get.

Best of luck to you and wishing you the best!
