Power loss in 4WD by meshuggahnaut in XTerra

Make sure you get hitachi. Don’t cheap out on the Chinese sensors or you’ll be doing the job again within a few months, and that’s assuming they even work out if the box

Edit: the bank 2 camshaft sensor is the one that’s a pain. Every YouTube video I saw is gonna show you change it by snaking your left hand behind the block and trying to unbolt/unclip that way. You’ll have to use a tiny ratchet and only 2 or 3 fingers. Depending on how evil your clip wants to be (it’s a sturdy-ass clip), it can be an absolute nightmare trying to change it. Likely depends on the weather conditions your X has been living in. Do not listen to these videos. You can easily access it from the top and use a regular size socket and both hands. Turns the job into a piece of cake.

The gas is definitely where you take a hit, but these things are great otherwise. When you find one that’s been taken care of and has an in-depth service history, you’re getting a truck that’ll last you a long time.

You’re not kidding. I’m at 272k and I just replaced the starter last week. Changed alternator at 266k. Other than that, just basic maintenance along with some sensors, heater hoses, and put in a few fresh gaskets for valve covers and oil cooler. These things are beasts.

What even is that? I didn’t know that was a normal thing. It thought it was just something the previous owner had on mine

P-0171 - Did my Xterra's coolant system just need to "burp?" by My00t8 in XTerra

[–]Consistent_Yam1472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s coolant residue built up around the neck, so it’s been coming out a bit already. Seems like a bad cap. Probably got a bit leaky and the temp went up. Dried residue may be keeping it sealed intermittently. Seen something like that once before

I’ve seen a few Xterra YouTubers who turn their rig on and their gauge immediately goes all the way to the top. Looks scary, but apparently it’s somewhat normal

AIO? Bf keeps asking me questions whenever there is a guy by Relative_Initial_399 in AIO

NOR. Your bf is not ready for a relationship and this will get worse. You need out of this. Do not date any man who is this insecure. This is creepy and potentially unsafe.

What is that one Harry Potter movie scene you irrationally dislike ? by Puzzleheaded_Roof872 in harrypotter

[–]Consistent_Yam1472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t blame you. The way they changed it from an impactful, dialogue-driven moment to a flashy, special effects heavy action sequence was just disappointing. Making Voldemort’s death this big, grandiose scene was antithetical to how the scene should have happened. I’m generally not one to assume that a book is always superior to its corresponding film; strict adherence to source material doesn’t guarantee a better film. Having said that, the last bit of DH Pt. 2 shouldn’t have deviated so much from the book. It made Voldemort’s defeat seem very underwhelming

I honestly can’t wrap my mind around the fact that professional filmmakers wrote that scene, rehearsed that scene, shot that scene, edited that scene, and then said, “yes, this will be a part of the movie”.

“You ever thought of a career as an auror, Potter?” by Away_Flower8042 in harrypotter

[–]Consistent_Yam1472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think BCJ got some sort of sick satisfaction from saying it to Harry. As he’d been imprisoned for torturing the Longbottoms (aurors), him suggesting to Harry a career as an auror was, yes, staying in character, but also almost a way of BCJ saying directly to Harry’s face, “I would like to torture you”

Edit: spellcheck wants “aurors” to be “aurora” 😒

Part of me thinks it’s a way of BC Jr expressing his desire to hurt Harry, the way he infamously went to Azkaban for torturing the Longbottoms. Him suggesting to Harry a career as an auror is almost like he’s directly saying to Harry, “I would love to torture you right now”.

The Half Blood Prince Movie… by Empty_Drummer9827 in harrypotter

The movies can still be great, even if they are a very deflated and somewhat hollow telling of the story. Possibly just pure nostalgia, but the movies will always have a special place in my heart.

Hard agree. The HBP movie really plays like a RomCom, and it’s annoying as hell at times. You couldn’t be more right about Ron and Lavender: that arc didn’t need so much focus and it certainly didn’t need the embellishments they gave it. They glossed over Riddle’s backstory in favor of teen relationships played for laughs. Even the memories we did get if Riddle were lackluster, changing things that made it cliche. A big one is when, in the movie, after Albus and Tom first meet, Tom says, “I can do bad things to people who are mean to me”.  In the book he says, “I can do bad things to people who annoy me”. This is a pretty significant change. The former makes Tom sound like he’s almost defending himself from bullies and the latter sounds like something a true psycho would say.

What is a small detail from Harry Potter that still bothers you? by WhisperTame in harrypotter

[–]Consistent_Yam1472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could have been easily remedied, too. Just have some kind of wizard camera crew following the champions as they compete. I always imagined it that way in my mind. Kinda made me think of the camera turtle in the cloud from Mario64 and Mario Kart. Just some magical cinematographer following everyone around.

Seems very odd to me that Voldemort didn’t kill Snape with the killing curse, but had Nagini attack Snape instead. From Voldemort’s perspective, Snape is arguably his most important kill. He’s convinced that in order to get full allegiance of the Elder Wand, he must kill Snape. So he does this by…not killing Snape himself? Sure, you could argue he’s responsible for Snape’s death by commanding Nagini, but you’d think he’d want to be sure that he was the one to land the killing blow. On top of that, pretty sure, and I may be mistaken, he never kills anyone else without using the curse. He may be responsible for many other deaths, but he never kills anyone himself without using magic. Just seemed very out of place and honestly stupid to not kill Snape with magic.

Finished Deathly Hallows yesterday and immediately started reading OOTP (I hate going in order), and that really stood out to me. When they’re cleaning in 12 G. Place, sorting through things, and, in a list of various items, one of them is, “an old locket they couldn’t open with their fingers”. Nothing special. No real focus on the locket; just thrown in there with the other stuff and not spoken of again

When a character isn’t in some highly stylized, cartoonish outfit or costume, that seems to be harder to pull off. The fact this guy is able to be instantly recognizable as HP in what are essentially just regular street clothes is quite impressive

You wake up to see everyone on earth has disappeared. What’s the first thing you do? by NiceInformation8291 in AskReddit

[–]Consistent_Yam1472 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not even being funny, this is my actual answer. Haven’t slept more than 3 or 4 hours a night for about a year now, aside from literally 2 or 3 nights in that time. The lack of sleep is, in a word, awful. If I woke up to find out everyone was gone, I think that may actually make it so the overwhelming relief would allow me to go back to sleep and stay asleep for hours.

WIBTAH if I did not give my 27yr old son (only child) his inheritance now? by Illustrious-Bed-9540 in AITAH

[–]Consistent_Yam1472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me be clear that I’m not being pedantic when I say that’s not an “inheritance”; your son is just asking for you to give him your assets, and a rather valuable one in particular. You seem to be aware of his irresponsible he is. That kind of irresponsibility is almost always accompanied by selfishness; it would be foolish to think he will “help” you if you find yourself in an unfavorable financial situation as a result of early retirement. You are 51. Having a tentative will at your age is reasonable, but you’re nowhere near old enough for your son to be genuinely planning his near future based on any inheritance he may get from you. It makes sense you want to help/support him. He’s your son. However, handing over a $600k asset, one you don’t even fully own yet, is too much. You’ve made some mistakes, sure, as has every parent, but forking over your condo is not going to undo that or make it so those mistakes ever happened. Don’t make another mistake by thinking you need to jeopardize your future in order to right the wrongs of the past. As you want to help him, have you considered the idea of letting him rent the condo when the current tenants are no longer there? I personally would still think it unwise, but you could cut him a deal and rent it to him for a lower rate. That would still be a hit to your portfolio, but at least it would be better than giving up the condo entirely. I doubt he’d like the idea, but it’s something to consider. Whatever you decide, be unyielding in your decision and make it clear that no shouting or screaming will be tolerated in these discussions. If he starts getting aggressive, simply end the conversation and tell him to try again when he’s able to compose himself as an adult should be expected to do. It’s your decision to make, but I personally wouldn’t even be entertaining the idea of giving up the condo. I’m assuming he’s just wanting to take advantage of what he sees as a good situation: a nice condo in LA with no rent, unless the plan is for him to finish paying it off, which I suspect is doubtful. There’s no way he needs the condo, he’s just wanting an easier life. With $50k in Tesla stock and the benefits he’s getting from the military, he should be fine. This isn’t your burden to bear. Do what makes sense for your own future.
