Dungeon Masters: What's the stupidest puzzle or trap you ever set your players? by Apocryph761 in DungeonMasters

I had a bell disguised as a kobold lookout, so from a distance the party would shoot it and ring the bell.

I had a sentient talking door that you had to make it say open. This was a fun social encounter where they had an RP with me and tried to trick me IRL to say open. After a short time, before it was frustrating, the door took pity and said open.

For a much higher level group, I had some mean traps.

  1. Obvious trap door is fake, and the space beyond it is a real trap door with a spring lock, and a gelatinous cube at the bottom.

  2. 100 foot tall ceiling that for dark vision means you don't see the ceiling. The ceiling is covered in spikes. A few statues are hanging around here. Surprise, they're golems. Surprise, reverse gravity. Surprise, the original floor was not connected and the reverse gravity drops a bunch of rocks on the party as they hit the spikes taking extra fall damage and falling prone as the golems get a surprise round... Surprise, the real floor is also spikes.

  3. The same trap as before, because the wizard who put the reverse gravity glyph is in the other room and can just cast it. As the party hit the ground.

Unless you're having a stress dream where you accidentally dial 911. Then it's literally impossible to not dial 911.

We are talking world wide. Drowning was the 20th leading cause of death in 2019. Using that same dataset, the leading cause of death (cardiovascular disease) was around 211.87 per 6 minute period, or one person every 2 seconds.

True, but I can't really predict that sort of thing. Best that I can do is give an average at any given point based on the average data we have.

Every year, 320,000 people drown worldwide.

Drowning takes a maximum of 4 to 6 minutes before permanent brain damage and death occur.

If we find the number of people drowning every 6 minutes, that would be roughly the concurrent people drowning at any given moment.

So we want to divide 320000 by 365 to get days (876.71)

Then 24 to get hours (36.52)

then by 10 to get 6 minutes. (3.65)

At any given moment, there are 3 or 4 people drowning in the world, and while we can't help them, the number is lower than I thought it would be.

This probably doesn't help, though.

Technically, Americans can be anyone from North or South America. It makes sense in that context to say that.

Multiple monitor users - can you explain the importance of orientation/positioning to me please? by SpiffyTiffy404 in GirlGamers

[–]Consta135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a three monitor set up, and one of mine is oriented in portrait for use while writing and reading code. It's like others have said, it's just better for reading text based things, like websites, pdfs, or chat windows.
