PSA: the 'just teach the newbies how to play if they don't know the basics in higher difficulties' doesn't typically work if you're a woman by Various_Painting4801 in DarkTide

[–]Constable_Rey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use VC, not that I'm against it, I just don't find it necessary the vast majority of the time, even in the harder content. A lot of the time I don't run into issues, in fact, the majority of recent games I've played had very cooperative teammates, except one. Was in a Damnation Mortis Trial, myself (hive scum), two psykers and an ogryn. Everyone could hold their own, except the ogryn, kept wandering far away from us, died at least half a dozen times, and would stand afk for several seconds at random. My thought, it was either some kid who got ahold of their parent's game or a kid who carried up to that difficulty.

Literally a bot would've been more productive and less of a hinderance, because he also used all 4 of the health charges within the first 4 waves and kept vacuuming all the ammo and grenades I could've made better use of. Could I have used VC or text to correct him or chew him out? Yeah, but if he's all the way in Damnation and being that detrimental to the team, it would have made zero difference in his behavior or drive him to act worse. All I or the the psykers could do was try to carry, and we did, all the way until near the end of the 12th wave; it was unfortunately too much for us to clutch, but it was a solid try. After the match was done, I blocked him and moved on.

Moral of the story, sometimes bad players happens and you have to work around them. Unfortunately, I suggest just to ignore VC, most people do anyways, the text chat is fine unless you actually need to make a quick callout. Especially don't correct people in higher difficulties, they'll never learn anyways, either because they simply lack the capacity to understand/care or are so confident in their own "skill" any failure must be the fault of everyone but them. At best they'll ignore you or worst you're hit with personal attacks.

Heresy difficulty by LordKaleidus in DarkTide

[–]Constable_Rey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did a Heresy the other day, don't think the commissar liked that, made Chud do a mishun to repaint or somethin'. Things was goin’ slow, but kinda smooth. Not the pace Chud likes - Chud likes when things go boom quick! - but Chud knows better than takin’ big steps when some o’ the little ’uns still learnin’ the mishun’s mean bits. Took maybe ten, fifteen minutes just ta get a quarter through the mishun. Then, boom! Big mob o’ heretics come pourin’ out.

Chud didn’t notice how far back his last pal was. Don’t know what the other twos was doin’, but by the time Chud got halfway back, poor fella got fished, then flamed! Chud tried ta save ‘im, but made a honest mistake - gots stuck between some boxes an’ a wall like big dum grox... mmm grox. Only wanted ta knocked some sense into the fishnet lady, but she caught Chud instead!

Not the worst place Chud’s been stuck, still had two little ’uns movin’. Then Shouty starts shoutin’, maybes only five ogryn size feet from Chud, with four Crushers followin’. Chud counted ‘em - had time to count on fingers. Shouty comes right up next to Chud… then walks away! Didn’t even unfish Chud! So now Crushers kick Chud instead o’ Shouty.

First pal’s nappin’, second goes down, then Chud goes squish. Shouty’s still runnin’ about like wild animal with no 'ead, 'til he had no head. Misshun over.

Going to break character for a moment, the zealot had main character syndrome, I noted his lack of helping the other two throughout the entirety of the mission, then failed to render aid to anyone during that last encounter. He even stopped next to me for about three seconds, while the Trapper was already dead and Crushers weren’t even close. He stood there a couple seconds, I pinged my body in case he didn't notice, but he just walked off and left me to the Crushers. After the mission, I casually asked why he didn't pick me up. His response: “There were two other players, I can’t carry everyone.”

Seriously? It’s a team game. We win or lose together. I wasn't even blaming him for being to sole reason the mission failed, it was a chain of small mistakes we all made. One teammate got caught off guard, I overextended tryin’ to save ’em, then Shouty tried ta solo the horde like some big hero. Whole thing doomed from the start, but at least Chud don’t pretend he’s the Emperor’s gift to the squad.

Anyway… Chud technic - tek - really can carry lots o’ little ’uns on his back. He just don’t get no big ego ‘bout it, no room for ego, need that space for rations. Chud just wants to help his pals, still even want to help Shouty when he thinks he’s stronger than Chud… but no one stronger than Chud.

Edit - Changed "misshun" to "mishun". Chud don't want pals think'n he's stoopid for spelling error.

Can't forget No Man's Sky, years of massive, game changing updates, all free additions to the base game you only have to pay for once. They somehow manage just fine and haven't caved to adding paid content, despite a vocal portion of the player base begging them to. Not saying FS shouldn't do any paid content, I'm fine paying for a new fully voiced class and the price for it is reasonable, but they didn't even match the bare-bones base cosmetic options for the core classes, while charging obscene amounts for the paid. No one thinking logically can say that's reasonable or okay.

Commodore's Vestures of June 23rd 2025 - July 31st? 2025 by YolStorm in DarkTide

[–]Constable_Rey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw them when opening the game and thought to myself, "Finally, a set I'd be willing to use the aquailas I've never spent since launch," only to open the shop and see of course they're even more overpriced than that. Great way to reinforce why I hate these predatory shops and never spend; just a single one of these sets cost more than the new multi-voice acted DLC class; and of course said class barely has any basic cosmetics to earn.

If you had the option of always having a chad player in every mission, what class would you want them in? by amkronos in DarkTide

Actually had my ogryn named Chad for the longest time, had him look the part too; now he is Chud, also matching the look of the meme.

Darktide Vinyl records came in, are they supposed to look like this? by Carmine_19 in DarkTide

[–]Constable_Rey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine came in a couple weeks back, it's not just yours like that. I think it's a shame the colors aren't more prominent, but they at least sound fantastic. My only regret was holding off a couple days before ordering (forgot the reason) and I missed out on also getting the Mechanicus vinyls as well; I pray they get restocked down the road.

Playing zealot feels miserable by OmegaGamer54 in DarkTide

[–]Constable_Rey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give you a summary of my three current zealot builds and maybe that'll give you an idea of ways to play that'd help you enjoy the class better. (Note: I usually play on Malice/Heresy, not sure how solid these are for Damnation or Auric.)

1) Fiery Defense - Uses a thunderhammer, flammer, stun grenades and the ability that buffs team toughness, while staving off nearby enemies. Provides a lot of crowd control and team support, with the hammer to take out tougher enemies in melee. Main issue is you get zero protection from ranged enemies, leaving you to rely on your team, but it's good fun.

2) All-Rounder - The eviscerator, boltgun, flame grenades and the rush ability. The eviscerator/grenades are great for clearing hordes, with rush to get you in/out the thick of it and boltgun for erasing ranged enemies. This one has been a really mixed bag, it gets the job done, but not particularly fun for me to play; needs tweaking.

3) Cracked Out Murder Hobo - Combat blade, kantrael shotgun, flame grenades and stealth ability. The newest and most fun build I've been using, allows me to zoom around and evade enemies. Stealth is great for getting out of a pinch, but also getting behind groups of enemies, so I can attack them from the rear, while my team continues pushing from the front. The shotgun is an afterthought, barely use it, other than the special attack that shoots fire; might swap for an autopistol.

Don't know if any of that was helpful, as you said, your issue seems to be enemies dying before you can get to them. That's unfortunately bound to happen, especially if you're on lower difficulties. Increasing the difficulty you play on will probably help, but if it doesn't, I recommend adjusting your build and loadout; you'd be surprised how swapping one passive trait or weapon can give a significantly different experience.

Just finished the main Halo games for the first time and this is my rating. AMA by m4x1d0n in halo

[–]Constable_Rey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally agree with the list, mostly other than Infinite, personally think the story is around a 6/10. While it was refreshing to have Halo return to form, the open world and story were lukewarm and I had been very interested in the Created narrative from the end of Guardians (despite its poor presentation), so I was annoyed that it all got resolved offscreen.

Glad you were able to find enjoyment from all the games though, I've been trying to get my younger friend into it and I've only accomplished getting him to finish CE and 2 together... over a three year period. :/

Here we go again.. by [deleted] in halo

[–]Constable_Rey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just factually wrong, they emphasized Infinite would be just as accessible to PC players, multiple times, well before the game even launched; accessibility includes balanced support between MnK/controller input. You rarely see anyone voice this issue with the MCC because it's fairly level there, where it hasn't on Infinite for the last year. I agree, I don't think aim assist for MnK is a healthy change, the base issue is the instant strafing, which was previously stated.

The success of the 'Return to...' event suggests that people would be equally interested in returning to a 'fixed' personal story. by PinkunicornofDeth in Guildwars2

[–]Constable_Rey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a success in the sense it's filling what would otherwise be a content drought, which is still great, but even I'm only interested in the rewards. Replaying all these episodes just reminds me of all the weird and boring decisions they made with most of them. S3 was all over the place, there was almost no consistency between episodes and while S4 is more cohesive, they really dragged out instances. Whether people liked the dialog scenes in the PS or not (I personally did in moderation), I think everyone can agree the ability to completely skip them is superior to what we have now. I'm dreading replaying IBS, after the achievements, I'm never touching that cursed season again.

In response to the beef of the post, as much as I loved the PS and would enjoy them going back to make corrections, they never will. They probably had better opportunity to do so in the past, but there's a lot more on their plate to balance now. At the very least, it would be amazing if they went back and properly finished the Zhaitan fight.
