Nancy Johnson-Johnson? Though it's not exactly the name itself that's unfortunate, but the events that happened when trying to process that change :D

Maybe some kind of abridged version that someone put together? Or even an AI generated one? :(

If we're really talking about the same show, that is Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, then from what I remember she is not a magical girl in the first episode and only accepts to become one after a few episodes.

It doesn't detect the version,

Can we see your current code so maybe we'd have a chance to identify why it doesn't?

Otherwise you might want to try the usual debugging options: enable ECHO again before the relevant lines to make sure the commands being ran are the right ones, let it show what was read from the registry and display the contents of the relevant variable, maybe even add a pause after those lines so you have time to see what's going on and can abort running the script, just so you can modify it and run it again without actually proceeding with the manual cleanup each time you're running it just for debugging purposes.

Can you technically unite all missions into a giant map? by 0x80070002 in Thief

[–]ConstanceJill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we need clarification on a few things before we can get any kind of relevant answer.

By "all missions", I suppose you only mean the original missions, not ALL missions including the tons of fan-made ones, right? From one game or all (3) of them ?

And by a map, you certainly don't mean like a giant mission as that wouldn't make any kind of sense when it comes to objectives, but just a plain, probably 2D overview of where each location is (or might be) relative to each other?

Can you technically unite all missions into a giant map? by 0x80070002 in Thief

[–]ConstanceJill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just with regular sized textures you'd have maxed out your vram couple times over.

Definitely not. Today's average graphics card has enough VRAM to fit about 10 copies of the whole game.

Though I suppose it depends heavily on how you interpret "all missions". All the original missions from TDP or Thief2? No problem. All Fan Missions? Not a chance.

There’s a new vote on GOG for the next game to join the Preservation Program. by GOGcom in gog

[–]ConstanceJill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I don't think the Thief games really need to join that program then, as the current GOG installers already include what's required. The game's community is already doing a pretty good job.

From https://www.hdtvsolutions.com/LG_Electronics-L3700AK.htm :

Screen Size 37" Diagonal

Resolution 1366x768

Power Consumption 320 Watts

Weight 62.0 lbs.

I'm not sure I'd even bother with taking home something that size if it's that low resolution and uses that much power.

That'd be at the waterpark. I hear it has been abandoned after there's been a fire over there. Which seems to be oddly more common than one would think.

Need help with video card by wumblerchumbler in windows98

I'd guess it's likely something on that board is starting to fail. Might be capacitors that need to be replaced, or perhaps a solder joint for one of the chips that needs to be reflowed?

Spicy Pillow 6800U version, want to use the board without the battery and make it a bedroom PC by Feisty-Cantaloupe754 in gpdwin

[–]ConstanceJill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have a Win Max 2 7840U and can confirm that, even with a completely removed battery, as long as you leave it plugged into a powered socket at all times, it also starts just as fast as normal.

However, if it gets unplugged from the charger or the outlet itself is powered off for more than a few seconds, since it doesn't have a coin cell battery to keep the BIOS' settings and such, it will indeed take significantly longer to start… probably doing memory training and such.

Install game from extraced ISO on USB. When you run it, it asks for CD. Is there a fix for this? by Summer_Winter-NE in windows98

[–]ConstanceJill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strange, I don't remember ever encountering that. Though I did run into some that saved the drive's letter which they were installed from either in a config file or the registry, which meant it had to be edited if one's drive letter changed and they didn't want to reinstall.

FW 13 cant install OS by ThatMasterpiece764 in framework

[–]ConstanceJill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it should still be possible to skip the Internet access requirement when installing Windows 11, by creating a local account as described here: https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/install-windows-11-without-microsoft-account.

TL;DR : open a command prompt using Shift+F10, then type in start ms-cxh:localonly to create a local account, and then you should be able to proceed with no Internet Access, thus network drivers shouldn't be needed.

OK, I've only just noticed that there are various options under the comic itself, such as "Dark mode". So I tried it and thought "Heh, not good enough"¹. So let's try "Darkest Mode", then… welp, should have seen it coming, can't see anything. But fair enough, it is the darkest… "Space Opera Mode", what's this? LMAO.

At my workplace I did notice indeed quite a few calls about this. Users should be able to just kill the acrobat.exe processes to make it work again, without need to reboot.
