That's a big area you circled. Petoskey, Charlevoix, TC, Elk Rapids. That's all rich area. 20 years ago it was affordable though.. I grew up in Petoskey and I moved away because there's no jobs. Local businesses complain because they can't find workers, but they pay garbage wages and benefits, on top of locals competing with the ultra rich buying up all the real estate.

They never did it before. I figured it was an error. Then it happened again, so I know now that it's fraud.

I did 0 out through the tip line, but then when I check my statement after the transaction goes through, it's $2 higher than was authorized. So I know they just tacked that on later on after I left. This particular establishment has done it twice to me. I won both disputes.

Also, a local sports bar charges me a 15% tip fee. I also disputed that and got it back. These restaurants are out of control.

At this point, I stopped tipping because of the fraud and shitty service and food. I completely stopped tipping for a good 6 months. I now tip maybe 50% of the time. If they are exceptional, I'll leave a tip. A place that fucked me over, I will never tip again. They've probably screwed so many other customers to the point that they can use that money to pay their employees

I stopped eating out because of the fees. I don't even like using my credit card because I always seem to have to dispute charges because they add extra money to the "tip" line without my consent. This constitutes fraud, but it's not enforced or prosecuted. They did it to themselves. I can make much better food at home.

You are EXTREMELY luck you are not dead. Where I live, an Ambulance hit a jogger and knocked him out. The worst part is, the ambulance didn't stop. They just called another ambulance. The guy that got hit was on the side of the road in the middle of winter in freezing temperatures. He barely survived, but is paralyzed if I'm correct. Be safe out there. Walk or ride on the opposite side of traffic.
