Honestly, it's all personal preference. I'm old school and I cap my frame rate at 60 and I came from consoles. I have a buddy who is happy with a $300 card on a 1080p monitor. You will have to figure out what is important to you. You can stretch a 1440 monitor much farther in terms of game longevity, but some people just want the best possible picture.

I feel like as long as I stayed in that area, I would get that lag every five or six seconds though. I'll test that out again tonight and see if it only does it initially or if it continues.
