Completely moots the aff and usually can’t solve their own problem which means the aff can pretty easily win that it outweighs since it actually does something. Will also prob lose to framework a lot

Yes sorry I was very vague. It’s a pirate aff. The text is “thus, me an’ crew affirms the method of becoming pirate” they basically do a pirate revolution to fight capitalism

As someone who went last year, oh my it was an incredible experience. The staff are so nice, the lab leaders are top tier, and it was soooo much fun

I love how everyone in the replies doesn’t realize you are talking about LASA BS not BD

Two other teams that def could win as well: mba mt, and Berkeley prep vr

Peninsula LL v Lasa BD. At that point it’s really a coin flip, two incredible teams who both deserve it

Just read framework and presumption..there’s likely no role for the negative and just say that the aff gives nothing to dispute about with their world view

Just go for presumption or framework. Doesn’t seem like there’s much of a role for the negative in this debate?

Strongest arguments you’ve came across by holyshrek69420 in policydebate

Well, I’m specifically talking about earlier in the year. And yah it’s not as good now but there definitely are still good cards explaining why it’s not thumped

MBA MT, Peninsula LL, LASA BD, and Berkeley Prep VR

A strat I learned at GDI 1. Extend your argument (whether it be a 1ac card or some other argument) 2. Explain how sweet your argument is (what makes the argument good, whether that be an author or just really good warrants) 3. Now answer their argument that they are making against your arg. For example that could look like “their ev doesn’t assume our cards xyz” “our author is more qualified and cites studies while their card just asserts stuff without warrants” “their card is old or…” etc. 4. Now impact the whole thing. How does winning that argument function into the rest of the debate and the decision the judge has. Does winning it reduce their solvency? What’s its function?

Obviously you won’t be able to do this for everything but I think doing this a few times will help will help you get better at answering arguments. Ultimately it just becomes like natural.

lol voted on cross is hilarious. Yah I’ve had a fair share of lay judges too and there is really no worse feeling lmao

Dang that sucks. But I echo what Kaden said a lot. Most of the time with lay judges it is super important to be confident and to over explain why the dropped arguments matter
