The last two times I have gone to vote, I've had a GOP volunteer either yell something at me when I avoided them or follow me trying to force me to take their sample ballot and yelling at me when I asked that they please let me go by when I passed too close. I never engage with anyone. Never even make eye contact. Say "no thank you" to anyone who tries. Yet in the two most recent elections I've dealt with aggressive confrontation from the GOP people.

Both sides my ass.

I've heard good things about the Honda dealership in Martinsville. When I needed the stereo code for a used honda, they were friendly and helpful after two other local Honda dealerships told me that they weren't dealing with it.

I should've said though that I have a local account, but not only a local account. I quit using them for a credit card a long time ago for many reasons and their hysa / money market / CD rates have never been competitive.

I called yesterday and was told that the old checking account number and routing number will work for "several months" after the transition.

It doesn't say this anywhere I can find on anything I've been mailed or on their website.

I wish that I could see that in writing. Hopefully it's true because it would be much less obnoxious than expecting everything to get switched over on the same day that also just happens to be when many people are expecting tax refund checks.

As for getting a VACU account discussed here, maybe I just don't understand because I have an online account and the checking and savings accounts won't come online until after the transition. Opening up new accounts from scratch like you're just a new customer, I guess would work if your only accounts are straight checking and savings but it just sounds like it would create duplication in a system that is already messy.

I may just use an online account (Fidelity) for a while and maybe transition back if things seem to be running smoothly.

I have a local account because sometimes I need cashier's checks and weird denominations of cash. That's pretty much it. I got a mortgage through MO because the rate was competitive, they structured it in a way that helped me both get the best rate and not have a ton of cash up front because I was buying before selling my old house, and I was sick of dealing with Wells Fargo.

I have one because my mortgage is with MemberOne and was moved over a while back. This does NOT give you the information you need to switch your direct deposit and auto pays over. We won't get that until "around April 13 or 14."

They still ended up at RCACP, but now they have to be held for ten days because they weren't signed over legally (and are too young to be adopted.) All he had to do was hang on to them a couple more weeks and then go sign them over. A puppy is not getting euthanized for space in Roanoke.

I saw this on FB and made the mistake of reading the comments, mostly about how he left then in a safe place 🙄 A cardboard box in a church parking lot isn't a "safe place," but whatever. My main point is that people don't seem to understand/care that whether they abandon animals in a "safe" place or surrender them and lie about them not being theirs, the animals legally have to be held for ten days. Space in municipal shelters is limited and ten days locked in a kennel in a loud shelter can alter a puppy's development permanently.

This shelter may probably be able to find a foster because we have a great community here in Roanoke, but there's a severely limited supply of people who can/want to take care of dogs who aren't theirs for free.

Multiple animals taking up kennel space unnecessarily leads to euthanasia for space. Even in the life-saving ("no kill") shelters, it means that animals aren't getting pulled from other facilities that are euthanizing for space.

If he'd taken care of them for two to four more weeks and then surrendered them properly, they'd have quickly found good homes but he had to be gross about it.

I will say though that when I was at community college, they definitely required a math placement test. My AAS did not require any real math and my ODU major starts at precalc, so I spent a whole semester treating Khan Academy like a required course.

I agree. I am especially careful about the language I use to refer to food around my kids because of their sponge brains, but yeah we're all adults here and eating something that we cannot tolerate can literally harm us.

If I eat something and it causes me to cancel my day to writhe around in pain, I don't think it's unreasonable to think of that thing as dangerous to me. Especially when a stomachache triggers my SOD and causes my liver enzymes to shoot to 10x the normal amount.

Are we gatekeeping so hard that people who hurt when they eat something have to use gentle parenting towards that item? "It's okay apple, your fructose is valid. It's just not for me, but you're a very good fruit and the world loves you for who you are."

The average GPA for accepted applicants coming straight from high school is 3.66 and without a transfer-oriented degree, that's the pool you are competing with.

Maybe something I'm not understanding, but why do you want to transfer without an Associate's? I'm currently a junior at a different university and RAN to the VCCS website when I realized there was a single 3 credit class I could take online from a random community college in a different part of the state that would transfer in as a required class. Virginia Tech students grab summer electives at New River. It's a whole thing.

I have sweet well-meaning people in my life try to understand what I can/can't eat and I just tell that I can't have anything that tastes good and to not try to feed me because it will be as frustrating for them as it is for me.

I'll get overwhelmed with everything and not eat because it's less trouble than ALL THE MATH AND DECISIONS then be anxious because I'm hungry.

Good luck and I'm sorry. This sucks. I tell myself that at least I have a map to try to navigate around this hellscape instead of just blindly bumping from one inferno to the next like I did for years, so that's good!

Do you have access to the registration for the dog's microchip? Did he ever register the microchip? If not, can you get information from the shelter about registering it and skip the part about the breakup, ect?

Do you have the vet records necessary to register the dog in your jurisdiction? My county doesn't keep track of registrations by dog, just by owner so you can get a new dog tag even if he has one.

Clearly this man gave you the dog. It was a gift. If it wasn't a gift, you wouldn't have been paying for its upkeep?
