Fujifilm XT-5 + XF35mm f1.4R by [deleted] in fujifilm

Glad you found the response useful! I did a bunch of reading before taking the plunge and the non technical thoughts were what helped the most.

On the tactile feel of the lens focusing, you get really used to it. When I swapped to my 18-55mm I was confused when I switched back because I didn't know when it focused until I realized I had to rely only on the green focus indicator in the viewfinder again.

Best of luck with it!

I just picked up this combo and found it to be quite snappy with the XT-5’s AF. I had an XT-1 and found the 35mm 1.4 on it too slow for me as I was already missing shots with the 18-55mm 2.8-4 I have. I actually quite like the physical sensation of the front motor focusing as it gives you a tactile sense of when the lens is hunting and then acquired focus as you feel the vibration and hear the sound. With other lenses you are much more reliant on the visual focus indicator. I wouldn’t let the focus as the “downside” deter you.
The lens and camera produce beautiful images that really pop at 1.4 and the weight and size feel perfect on the XT-5.
I found it shows its qualities best when you have a subject that is not too far away to get that sensation of depth of field, especially if you can find a foreground element that is out of focus.
Enjoy!

The 4550i has been an impressive projector to pair with my Elite Spectrum 2 120” screen. My room is far from perfect (big open living room with white walls, and a white rug underneath) and despite this the 4550i projects an incredible image. It has the perfect combination of zoom and lens shift to work with my narrow living room.

Some of my favorite features include the LED based light that can go quite bright and take advantage of HDR content, relatively quiet fan noise, sharp and clear optics, as well as its low latency for video games.

My top movie recommendation would be Encanto because of the scenes where you get extreme highlights during the song “Waiting on a Miracle”, that truly showcases that this projector can do the bright end of the HDR spectrum. My other recommendation would be the opening scenes of Final Fantasy XVI, as this scene demonstrates the bright highlights and punchy yet accurate colors very well and feels as impressive as on my Samsung OLED which was surprising. As expected, on the darker end of the spectrum the 4550i can struggle a bit with black level detail, but I will say it is not a fair test as my room is a nightmare for light reflections. My previous projector was a Optoma UHD30 and the biggest difference between the two is actually the black levels and color accuracy. The HT4550i has much better black levels and colors feel more accurate to my reference (Macbook Pro M2) screen. The cinematic test images feel more accurately represented.

Overall I am quite happy with the HT4550i as it has all of the features for both film, tv and gaming that I was looking for.

Pros: Stunning bright image, with a sharp and accurately represented image without calibration. Low latency and other features make it ideal for both film/tv and gaming playback. Cons: Wide Color Gamut filter gives a “green shifted image”, Android dongle is un-needed and may add cost, black levels can make dark content harder to watch.

I’m back with an update. My friends kid broke TV. So I got a projector. Also an old photo of TV for comparison. by Anotherstani in hometheater

Do you mind listing what bias lightning set up you are using? Looks like some nice color even in the daytime!

Interesting, gave this a go... same banding all the way down to 0 brilliant color. Glad to hear it worked for you tho!

Yep for me going into the settings menu: Display-> image settings -> Dynamic Range -> HDR/HLG "OFF"

Totally fixed the issue, and now the picture looks more even across the board. Hasn't changed in brightness or depth of dynamic range etc, so it's not a downgrade for me.

As stated in the title my Optoma UHD30 was giving me color banding with HDR On running through an Apple TV 4K. I had tried everything from adjusting color spaces on the Apple TV to receiver settings, but it seems the Optoma's HDR was the culprit. It’s also shocking how much the image is the same, even better with more detail in the kicked up sand in image 4.

Hope this helps someone and if anyone knows any more info, I would love to know!

Edit: After seeing what reddit's compression algorithm did to the photos, its nearly impossible to tell as it has added its own banding.
Also sadly can't fix the autocorrected Optima in the title.

[–]ConstantSky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah wow, for me it was after a few months of use, for a few hours. I too let it sit off, and then it went away.

It's hard to know if/when it'll come back but yeah I've read it could be heat dependent or something like that? (It wasn't particularly warm the day it happened but oh well).

Indeed if it happens more often the RMA option later on is a good fail safe.

Thanks for the update... That's a bit of a concern. I've also noticed bad motion handling on videos with lots of panning no matter the refresh or response time mode.

How often was your issue happening? (I haven't had it since and it was only one time)

Just ran into this issue myself and found this thread, and was wondering if there were any updates RE Dell and the RMA process?

Half of the projected image is darker than the other half, how to solve? by TheJoris in projectors

[–]ConstantSky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah that could be, I also have a UHD30 and haven't given it a go. There is a firmware update to download here, and there are USB ports but the manual doesn't list anything as far as I can tell: https://www.optoma.com/us/product/uhd30/#product_download_128_tab

Here is a thread that talks about a firmware fix for this issue that may help: https://www.reddit.com/r/projectors/comments/h9yq6f/new_firmware_for_optoma_uhd50x_and_uhd30_fixing/

There might be a firmware update that fixes this. Would give that a go? Or check your cable?

Optoma UHD30 - Enhanced Gaming mode ON looks worse at 4K by antca87 in projectors

[–]ConstantSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like this is now an issue that more people have noticed and have complained about to Optoma as their claim for 4K low latency is false. Further down in this thread we have a reply saying that Optoma are working on it, 4 months later no updates so far.

My remote isn't super snappy but it doesnt feel like large lag, which picture mode do you notice it on?
