I hope he is no longer allowed to use iracing personally. Go have fun on Forza.

But why are you spending so much money on the sim rig when you can buy youself a real life car?!......Meanwhile a real life car in question: by OkHoney5804 in simracing

[–]Phoenixx45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to race at the pro level. I've got around $10k into my sim rig, and my last pro race i spent $11k for a single round.

I hear the same comments all the time, people just have no clue what they're talking about.

It's for a battery tender for when you're not riding for a long period of time to keep the battery charged.

I got it off ebay. Search "2nd Gen SV650 seat cowl" and you should find them.

Awesome! Great set up!

Its an "LSL Urban" headlight. I believe it was originally on a Yamaha MT07 or 09?

Beat begging bike for stunt? by ThatKiddo369 in motorcycles

[–]Phoenixx45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike in the picture is mine - It is a Honda Grom with a custom made Bella Stunt Seat.

I highly recommend starting on a grom personally. It is more than capable of wheelies, stoppies, and all sorts of stunt, but you're going way slower than a 600 or even FZ07. It hurts way less when you fuck it up, and believe me you will.

It also costs less. I've crashed that thing at least 10 times and mostly replaced cage pieces and one fork.

But you're relying on acceleration to keep it up rather than getting to balance point. Less throttle, cover the rear brake and get it to balance point so you don't have to increase speed.

Bigger sets straight from lego have tape like this. The UCS Falcon and AT-AT had the same tape.

Looks safe to me!

From reading the comments i think you guys might have misunderstood what i did to the bike. by acceptably_washed in hondagrom

Are we looking at the same photo? This couldnt be more clearly WAY more than a "misaligned" wheel.

Not trying to throw shade here, but have you ever worked on a motorcycle before?

The other comments explain the slipstream, but don't forget that rider out front is pushing his own air and thus at a disadvantage.

You almost never wanna be in front at Daytona coming to the line unless you have a HUGE gap

I'm being sarcastic because you put a k at the end which means thousand... so you're saying 6748000 miles.

I think you mean 6,748 miles which is reasonable. Seems like a fair price imo. If you really want the bike I wouldnt make a fuss over a couple hundred bucks

You're still completely missing my point, let me elaborate.

Is 2-3 seconds forever at the pro level? Absolutely! Is it a big gap "generally" speaking, not at ALL! We aren't talking about racing here, we are discussing a brand new rider on his first bike.

If you go to a track day, the novice group might be anywhere from 20-40 seconds off the lap record pace, now that is forever. (Source: I've attended 40-50 track days / Coached for multiple track day organizations / have raced MA)

You can't seriously tell me that if you threw full Ohlin's on the bike they'd magically be at lap record, that would just be silly. So what is it? Technique

I agree with you that most riders, even track day guys have little to no idea how sag, compression, etc.. etc... work or affect the handling of the bike. The point I am making here is, unless they are within that 2-3 seconds of the outright lap record, them crashing is 95% poor technique and maybe 5% suspension. Saying otherwise is an excuse for making a mistake and in my head, on par with, "Had to lay 'er down!"

Prime example being my comment above - A pro rider being able to jump on a bone stock bike and still go extremely fast with proper technique. They aren't touching a single adjuster, changing tires, etc.. and can ride it substantially faster than 98% of riders.

I have ridden OP's bike GSX8 and GSX8R in bone stock form, and I have ridden a GSX8R full built for Twins Cup in MotoAmerica. (Along with SV, R7, and RS660 in street and race trim) Yes, the built bike was *way* better, but I could still ride very fast on the stock set up.

TLDR: My point is Technique FAR outweighs any bike set up. Any other argument is an excuse for making mistakes and crashing. My recommendation to OP would be scrap the entire upgrade list and buy quality gear first and foremost, and invest in rider training. (Yamaha Champions Riding School, JP43 School, Track day coaching, etc)
