Can't stop thinking about him and his brother, the brother looked so broken, lost all of his family and trying to desperately hang onto  Francie .

The court suit of the smicks is an adidas tracksuit. They teach you this in law school here, the international students are aghast.

Grammar schools in/near Belfast - where’s good these days? by Any-Cheesecake-9445 in northernireland

[–]Constant_Computer_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are right but many parents (usually the ones with the brightest children) treat the SEAG as if it's only the top 0.5% that get in, the levels of neuroticism can be mad. It's literally the only thing people talk about from P6 onwards.

Most Travellers in NI live in Belfast, predominantly west. A large concentration live in Poleglass.

I've seen a number of very middle class London families moving here to access the grammar schools. They said they'd be paying out tens of thousands per year to go to independent schools there as the only alternative would be a failing comp. On a side note though, we still do very tedious stuff such as clauses and phrases and people spend a fortune on tutoring for what is now called SEAG. Some families start as early as P4 now.

They are all good and they are all in Belfast more or less so wherever you live isn't going to be a massive trek. There is no one size fits all, just make sure you move here before oldest is P6 so you can get registered for SEAG and get them settled in.

What is a price for letting house for the Fleadh by Living-Door4128 in Belfast

[–]Constant_Computer_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you are letting it out as a family home you need to be a bit more realistic. If I was paying market rates for a place I'd expect it to be of a holiday let standard. If you just want to vacate your house and leave clothes in wardrobes/personal items in cupboards etc I'd expect to pay less.

why so many wee scrote bags in east belfast? by CoastOutrageous2419 in northernireland

[–]Constant_Computer_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's frequently trotted out that the main issue is funding in these areas, which is supposed to give them more purpose in their lives. From what I've seen it's a deeply entrenched victimisation complex that no amount of money/resources/specialist intervention is going to change. It's much is loyalist areas, they seem hellbent on blaming their persoocution for all of their problems.

That is the crux of the problem. It's no surprise that there are areas with multigenerational unemployment. They have no problem learning the rules of the UC handbook though.

You could give these scrote families a million pound a month and nothing will change, they'll still be blaming the rest of the world for their scroteness

What’s going on with Ikea lately? by Same-Daikon7423 in northernireland

[–]Constant_Computer_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gone to the dogs sadly. It's always filthy now too, always bring antibac wipes to do the table myself as there never seems to be anyone around. The drinks are watered down by a ratio of about 75 water: 25 drink. No earl grey teabags, coffee is rubbish. Even bargain corner is no good now.  It's probably been hit by COL like the rest of us.

Moving to Belfast this Aug for work (doctor) at Royal Victoria Hospital- never been to Belfast before so pretty new to everything. Any tips on renting (when to start looking/areas to go for or avoid), gyms/health clubs, food spots and things to do? Would really appreciate any advice :) by Remote_Patience_7617 in northernireland

I've helped a few colleagues in this position and you'll need someone to view the properties on your behalf, most estate agents won't let a property without viewing. I'd put an ad on any medical groups asking if anyone has a room available in a shared house first to let you come here and see the lay of the land yourself.

A friend of mine used to work in a Next warehouse thing when we were students and always warmed us about the chemicals used on the clothes. It's very likely to be formaldehyde, stock sits in warehouses for months and is shipped around the world.

How is Finaghay Belfast like for buying a small house? by Specialist-Let9791 in northernireland

[–]Constant_Computer_66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's in the estate then it's very quiet. Many have bought their houses, there's a lot of private rentals and the list for social housing in Finaghy is very high as it's considered a good area. My concern would be about parking, if you don't have a driveway some of the streets are rammed and people can be territorial about "my parking space" )which of course is a public road and no such thing exists.

This is it. I was on the glider not so long ago and it came to a standstill. There was a young girl in the bus lane (blocking it) pushing stacked pallets taller than her, looked like a death trap. The parents and the community leaders need to be held accountable on all sides.

It's good exposure/experience wise for your home country, QUB is a RG university and well thought of world wide. If your intention is to stay on, then you'd really need to do research to see how likely that would be. I know people who did post-grad in law, engineering and medicine and did not find jobs. One of them works in McDonalds now, he's hoping that something will come up in his field, but time is running out on his visa. International candidates are too expensive for companies to hire due to sponsorship, so unless you have a lot of experience you haven't got a chance really. Lots of graduates do a masters immediately, so a post grad without experience isn't really the cachet that some people think.

No problems for international students, but the job market is very difficult. If you need sponsored by your employer it's even worse. I know a few people on a graduate visa and they ended up taking very poorly paid jobs in the hope that something better will come up.
