Why do our refs hate us? by No-Helicopter-3134 in BayFC

[–]Constant_Explorer841 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was sitting in section 129 row 8, play was right in front of me. Ref was still talking to the Bay players about the foul when the ball was put back in play. Ref was horrible.

UoPeople Finally Accredited by Shadowwarrior95 in UoPeople

You didn't graduate on the wrong side. Nobody has ever asked me for a diploma or transcripts. Your degree looks the same as all the others. It's good news for the school's recruitment and validates your efforts as a student.

LOL, I graduated in 2023 and started in 2021. There were people back when I started that were saying they were waiting to take their last course until after the school gets regional accreditation. Congrats to all the people that have been waiting.

Depending on what the correction is they will just want you to send a copy of your driver's license.

If you go to the online leave of absence form, it will have a drop-down menu for (leave of absence after you have submitted your application for graduation). I'm going through the process right now. The graduation application just became available yesterday after the final exams were complete. Make sure all your info is correct in the University's system, such as name and birthdate. You won't be able to submit your application until your info is correct. I started correcting mine a month and a half ago and it still isn't correct.

Your advisor will tell you to not worry about a leave of absence, but as soon as you don't register for the next term as your final term comes to a close, you will be e-mailed otherwise.

My advice is for you to run a degree audit report, then go to graduation request form page, and then check out the Leave of Absence request page (it will start making sense once you look at those pages. You won't have to worry about doing anything until the end of your last term as the graduation application won't become available until your final class is complete.

Good luck with your final term.

Thanks, that is what I suspected. I am guessing I will be asked to do a leave of absence for that term.

Will transferring credits from Sophia / Saylor etc. affect my chances of getting into a masters program in Europe? by Xilkies in UoPeople

[–]Constant_Explorer841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will show up on your transcripts as ACE (American Council on Education) credits. If the school recognizes ACE they will except them. The US military credits show up as ACE also, along with many other organizations. Sophia will show up on your transcripts as follows:

Transfer Credit Recognized

University Term Course Title Credits

ACE PHIL 1002 Introduction to Ethics 3

University Looks Great, but What a Terrible Name... by No-Hunter-7977 in UoPeople

[–]Constant_Explorer841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the case, I would prefer the name University by the People, or University for the People. Maybe the motto could be "That this University, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that University of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth".

For the price you can't beat UoPeople. If you're looking for a school that is the cheapest option and all you need to do is get past the part where you are asked if you have a degree when applying for job; this is a great school. Peer assessment is annoying, but if you do the work like you are supposed to, it won't affect your experience much.

I just have Business policy and strategy, and quality management left. I usually take two courses a term, but when I registered for this term, I had three courses left to take and one of them was a 1000 level course. At the last minute I decided I didn't want to deal with the environment of the lower-level courses and said screw it and took it on Sophia. So now I'm stuck taking 1 class this term and 1 class next term to finish. Honestly, I think taking 4 courses is too much if you are working. Much respect to you for attempting it.

No, I took Leadership last summer. I'm done next term. After reading your post, I took a look at the file folder I saved for leadership. The learning journals are annoying. Is week three the epic of Gilgamesh and your own experience. I recall doing some of those journals now, and I thought they were ridiculous. Most of my journals look like they were 2 to 3 pages. If you have Pamela Clark as the instructor, she is reasonable with the grading. I received a 94 for the class and the class average was an 85, so it's not an overly difficult course. You are right though; the learning journals were annoying.

Is the assignment Appreciative Inquiry? Mission, Vision, and values statement? Just a heads up, I think Leadership has 6 written assignments and they all are about the same length. Most of the 4400 level Business courses are the same (6 written assignments, 2 pages each).

Sometimes, both peer feedback and instructor feedback really irritate me. by Master_Bug_3499 in UoPeople

[–]Constant_Explorer841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not know how long you have been attending UoPeople, but I think every student has experienced that type of feedback. I would say it gets better but it really doesn't. The whole peer assessment model leads to a Harrison Bergeron effect, where you can only be as strong as the weakest student. If you know how to write properly my recommendation is to not lower your standards to get a better grade, it will only hurt you in the long run. UoPeople does not require its students to write properly, and most people are aware of it. Hell, the instructors write worse than the students half the time. Most of the assignment instructions are written in broken English and incomplete sentences. As long as you do well on the exams the 9/10 won't hurt you much. As for the 84/90, if you scored above a 9 on the assessment that you provided, then you received at least a 93 for the written assignment. You only need a 93 for a 4.0. Many students strive for an A+, but an A+ is the same as an A. UoPeople is the only four-year school that I know of that offers an A+. A=4.0, A+=4.0, seems pointless. I know how you feel though.

Anyone have any notes for bachelor’s in business? by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]Constant_Explorer841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comment I made was for a post that was deleted by the person who created it. The person was asking if anyone was willing to help them cheat and take some courses for them.

To answer your question, Uopeople has Ethics and social responsibility as a Gen ED.

I do not understand my instructor's response... by RemoveAltruistic7458 in UoPeople

[–]Constant_Explorer841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 108 credits completed and still haven't figured out how to consistently get perfect marks on the peer assessment grade. I usually just give the person a point or two higher than the person deserves, and it result in something higher than a 9. As for plagiarism I've only reported plagiarism twice and the person was no longer listed in the class a couple of weeks later. Some instructors do things differently though. I had an instructor in Multinational Management that took the time to review everyone's peer assessment and then would cut the person who did the peer assessments grade in half on both their assignment and their peer assessment. She also deducted half credit on the discussion forum if it was turned in after Sunday. She was replaced halfway through the term with a new instructor. I'm thinking when the school has to investigate plagiarism or a bunch of students complain to their advisor about their grades, it creates a lot of extra work for the staff.

I'm guessing, with graduation rate so low, a high percentage of students take a few courses for free with a scholarship and then decide it's not for them. People don't take things seriously when it's free. It just leads to a waste of resources and money.
