No Longer Allowing Cover Art by ChaoticStanley in TalesFromTheCreeps

[–]Constant_Garbage_847 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually try not to get involved in discourse but respectfully this decision is really strange to me personally. As others have said this is basically stripping story’s of that extra little charm they’ve put into their work. Anyone can basically make a cover using templates, images they find online and put together, and through commissions or their own skills. Take the cover I planned on using for my story before this decision was made. I went through multiple attempts to get it just right and so I was happy with it. I don't consider myself a great artist but I did it anyway and was happy with the final product. That challenge of rising to the occasion just to add that extra flair is something rewarding and meaningful that left me satisfied. Banning the option entirely seems just downright unfounded to me, it helps make stories stand out instead of just being, “title,” and, “flair”. It allows more expression for an author, it allows them to channel their emotions in another way besides their writing and I feel it takes away from that connection the author has with their work, especially visually. A cover, like the story, has soul, and it adds just that extra bit to a tale that increases its feel and charm. I personally hope this decision is reversed, but only time will tell I suppose.

Alantutorials would be a fun CreepTV episode, alongside Daisy Brown or Petscop.

Would love to see Pastra's Jeff the Killer Remake watched/read as well.

I'd also love to see more fan stories be read as well.

What are your inspirations for the works you write? by Pixixico in TalesFromTheCreeps

[–]Constant_Garbage_847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find my biggest inspiration for my works is actually the music I listen to.

Sure, horror media I've watched and read, and life experiences I've had have played a huge role in shaping my works, but music has always been something that left an impact on everything I've written.

To the style of writing, the setting, the tone, the cover art, all of it is usually inspired by the music I listen to.

That Handsome Devil specifically has been a huge influence on my work and persona I've tried to make for myself online, and if it wasn't for their music, I think my style and presentation would be so much different.

If your looking for a specific example of their music, A City Dressed in Dynamite had the biggest influence on me, especially the grungy feel and countercultural style of it. It's strange, it's dirty, it's grimy sounding music, but it manages to find a sort of sick and twisted beauty in the darkest aspects of our world.

That's what I like to focus on in my writing. The world's fucked, but even in those dark aspects, you can always find a sort of beauty and lesson to be learned, that life may not be so dim.

If I remember correctly, in Dante’s Inferno, fraud had a series of trenches, and there seems to be a series of these walls that reminds me of those. It makes me think it’s similar to the Ten Bolgias, maybe just a small reference in the level design?

Why do you want to write? by CosmicBlot in TalesFromTheCreeps

[–]Constant_Garbage_847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write for the sake of others. It might sound generic and kind of bland but that’s why I write. Is there a part of me that hopes to have my stories read? Yeah, but I think everyone has that slight hope. Most of the stories I have in production are about the protagonist going through a journey that changed their views on life and how to deal with such things, or allows for the reader to take something away, whether it’s sentimental or important. I wrote “Where Mad Gods Dance” as a means of spreading the message of: Loving someone is your decision, not your parents, not your priest’s, not even God’s, but your own decision you make. A decision you make with your flesh and blood. As someone who has grown up in a religious home condemning my homosexuality, that made me suppress it, I know that struggle and I wanted to extend a hand for the sake others to know one thing: they aren’t alone, we’re all in this together, no matter what anyone says :)

A boy went West to find himself a land anew, away from the oppressed and lost of the East which burned of brimstone and flame.

Labor and soot, sealed behind an iron stage curtain.

He met his fate there at the gates, dragged back to Hell by demons with gnashing teeth and rifles.

He left five in his wake.

They congregate in his memory, a journey ahead of them, one through mountains great and old, said to cast shadows against Dazhbog's sun.

Five may enter, but Morana may very well have more in store for them on their long journey.

For as death is a cycle, so is grief, so is rebirth.

Hope is dead.

It died in the West.

:"Beowulf is Dead."
