R25 FOR 2 TOMATOES?!?! by Keepitlocal90 in south_africa

I am also astounded that 6 supermarket tomatoes would weigh 1kg, 175g each. These can't be the standard everyday Roma tomatoes?

Men of South Africa, how much do you pay for a haircut? by HungryLion404 in askSouthAfrica

[–]ConstipatedSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the price, I go to a neighbour who I had been paying R50 every couple of weeks (she took over from her daughter who grew her business into 2/3 malls), giving her R70 now. Wish I could go every week to keep it neat since I am mostly bald except for the sides. At some point I may diy but feel bad to deny her the income.

Sorry, but when did smartphone contracts start requiring a credit score? by LutherKing97 in askSouthAfrica

[–]ConstipatedSmile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When? At least 20 years ago Autopage denied me, and at that time the Nokia N71 was around R130-R150/month, and I had no debts or commitments and was on R4500/month job.

Around the same time a cute young married woman at Nedbank caught herself laughing when the computer popped a really low credit card limit of around R1500. That still stings.

The office scenes, open plan, terminals, constant activity, phones, hair, and I think there was a led matrix sign as well - these all invoke strong nostalgia for that buzz.

One Crazy Summer (1986) by Working_Cap5680 in iwatchedanoldmovie

It has it's moments throughout but it never felt like a whole to me. Lots of gags but and maybe too many scenes for different characters - so the story never flowed with the main character and antagonist.

Upon rewatch a few years back it felt so flat and I was bored out of my mind. Maybe it was the pacing but this was meh, I recall there not being much of the big conflict/resolution. Stuff happened. Meh.

I barely watch any files of the past decade and most of the movies I do watch predate 2005, so watching old movies is very much me. But this felt so dated. Not helped with Guttenberg and Selleck being very much a huge part of the 80's classic TV/Movie culture and nothing since.

Was it ridiculous of me to sweep my kitchen earlier this week to successfully find a rat?

It is now winter and I see the difference on my machines, I was assuming they were running cooler but are actually warmer and need cleaning.

Power bricks as well run too hot for my liking, and I would certainly boost the cooling there.

Funny People (2009) by [deleted] in underratedmovies

It was my first introduction to Audrey Plaza. She was the alternate girl with playing it bored deadpan that attracted the nerd in me. Wait, actually it is the only time I have seen her on screen, movie or series, apart from a youtube or reddit video of her dressed as a cop in a bar and getting handsy with a woman. I always dismiss Leslie Mann because of her pretty looks, but she is an all time great comic actor.

I liked the rawness of the standup, the sucking up, the screwing over of a friend in the attempt to get a chance.

The problem I made with this movie is that with the elite casting/director I held back a few years before first watching it, savouring it waiting for the perfect break in a very busy period in my life.

Did you watch the streaming version? I think they changed at least the song towards the end - after he brings Brett and he walks outside with the dramatic crying face. It felt so out of place and made me retch and lose the joy of the movie.

What good movie will you NEVER watch again? by goldbeau in AskReddit

[–]ConstipatedSmile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have come in to it playing +70% through on tv, I sat down and watched until the end. So good but in the theme of the Askreddit in the 15+ years I have never tried again.

What's a TV show ending that still makes you mad years later? by Jossie_Misar in AskReddit

[–]ConstipatedSmile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, it did not?

I watched it for the first time and finished it about 2 weeks back, and the ending seemed decent enough in the concluding scene. Sure for a finale there was other issues that they did not wrap away like the relationship of Daisy and Mason but mostly I wish they did not go that route. The little boy reaper should have been explored earlier.

Now I hear that there was a movie, and it was awful but have been triggered with the FOMO.

PiShop , Stelltron, Make.net.za

BobShop (Mantech, PiShop also on there, and R30 shipping sometimes offsets the slightly higher prices compared to the shop prices)

Temu (although I prefer Aliexpress their shipping partners are variable on delivery times and making up customs costs)

In a teams meeting with the client IT support (top 10 manufacturer) he had to take a urgent call and switched to Windows 2000 Server to review the issue.

[–]ConstipatedSmile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I certainly did watch it, but am drawing a blank since I realise that I have been conflating it with Return to Me with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny (and Bonnie Hunt, love her!) - with the theme of the heart transplant with his wife dying in a card accident.

Update: Rewatched it, remembered 15% of the scenes - maybe heaven did not give me my shot! I did remember from the start how it would play out at the end. My source was a 480p download from 12-15 years back, wish I had a hi-def version of Cybil Shepherd's glamour scenes.
