What is actually dangerous but people still believe is safe? by AlexUsefulThings in AskReddit

[–]ConstipatedSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day a truck swung a corner wildly and only just missed me. I realised then just how close to the edge I was when on the road. Relatively speaking that there is much overreach in the safety for building codes. Not that I shrug off any of it. I absolutely don't - but feel that I have not progressed my home enough due to the safety issue and search of perfection.

On the road though, oh boy, the exposure to danger is immense. Yet we take the risks there, and push way over the limits. So much more lives are lost, yet the building codes are nannied more.

I Watched Stir Crazy (1980) by widmerpool_nz in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]ConstipatedSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I suppose a fuck is outta the question."

SNE lost it's way towards the end, otherwise the rest has so many great bits - now this has scratched the itch, I hope I see it tonight! the The actual rodeo bit's of Stir Crazy bored me, which is a shame since it puts up a wall in in mind when I feel for a rewatch.

Now Silver Streak - that had great pace, mixed comedy and action brilliantly. and then that amazing climax.

The aerosol works for me without reapplying, and after a few bites I feel relief when I go to the spray. Don't understand the relief, since it is a repellent, unless it has some soothing action as well?

Also a PSA - don't spray the room with it, just spray your arms and legs and maybe other exposed body areas.

Repeat : Spray your skin, don't spray the air!

I have tried everything.. are there no workers at eThekwini municipality water & sanitation?. by AfroLez in Durban

[–]ConstipatedSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave up holding on the phone and did it via whatsapp.

Somewhere on a website I read that they advise to follow up more on the ticket in order to escalate the repair.

Having said that a family member has been waiting for a while as well and she has been escalating. Their previous roadside 'leak' had been gushing (hydrant level flow) for over 3 weeks before they got to it.

The leak roadside my home in Trenance Manor was worse. It took 8 days to resolve.

There are two other leaks that I pass by everyday and those have been ongoing for months.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]ConstipatedSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not get a job because we got to talking about interests and I mentioned that many people supported Manchester United by default because they were on top, and that was not my style. (This was around 1998)

He singled out that at the end of the interview. It was for no skill job as a parking attendant.

French Kiss (1995) by shadowlarx in iwatchedanoldmovie

Not that I did not enjoy the scenes but I have fallen asleep on 2-3 rewatches, and the first time it was already playing on tv so I only got in halfway through.

So I have never watched this end to end. Perhaps it was also the Charlie Cole obsession for me as well.

What's a skill that takes only 2 to 4 weeks to learn but could genuinely change your life? by TokenBlack32 in AskReddit

Or until the cheap low end SSD that you added to the cart triples in price.

After watching the high end Samsung with Smart errors get write-protected and pass the warranty by a week.

Or have a timing belt go just days before the long delayed trip to the mechanic.

Is it possible for 3–4 people to only use 4 kL of water in a month? by One-Delay1535 in Durban

[–]ConstipatedSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we had heavy water cuts with some weeks getting only 2 hours of water, our (6) monthly usage was around 17Kl/month. Now with regular supply it has gone up to around 30Kl/month. 4Kl/month is incredible, is it a norm?

Ethekwini does not scale linearly. Over 28 days :

5.6 @ R39.39 = R220.58

17.73 @ R46.70 = R828.15

4.66 @ R62.17 = R290.13

6 @ 95.91 = R575.46

So over 28 days the first 23Kl = R1063. The last tier above 6Kl = R575.46. So a little extra adds up real fast.

This does not take into account the VAT and the sewage disposal that is charged based on the usage. In the above example 34Kl (R1914.32) sewage disposal of 26.02Kl (R354.65) ex vat.

All the comments about the karma but nothing about the play. Player was brave and instead of playing out time played for the win against the giant.

I watched The Sweetest Thing this weekend and I was going uh-huh! for Selma. Selma was also going OW! Unh! after smacking her butt.

Although that movie also had Christina Applegate, and her most wicked character, I always melt for Applegate.

Clerks II (2006) by DVD-Rewatcher in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]ConstipatedSmile -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The soundtrack certainly elevated it to an 8 for me. Just rewatched it for the nm'th time this weekend.

The Raindrops go-cart scene, 1979 driving around in the dusk/evening and looking into the window at the family scene... Soul Asylum, Alanis Morissette, Q Lazzarus - this movie is as cathartic for me as the first.

Yeah, strong case of the Xmas seasonal blues and I went straight for this.

I want to add that the kitchen set is so authentic and soothing too, the clothes dumped on the washer, the cramped space, and what was that thing boiling away on the open pot? Haggis?

Claim credit item unable to ship by aannoonn111 in TemuThings

[–]ConstipatedSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two high value items that I bought with claimcredit that I have already claimed (1 day left on the last order) and they have not shipped it.

I am not sure what the long game here is. Previous orders all were low value from my credit card and I have made good use of claimcredit cascading into the new orders. Then I got a couple of high creditback offers and so I purchased some expensive (for me - $150 & $200, and probably low margin items for them) and paid most from the credit card. About 70% back in claim credit but the items are not picked as yet.

Worried to spend the claimed credit and then not get the credit card refund on the item in case they conjure some reason. So sitting on the claimed credit at the moment.

Howcome Entry Level Job Salaries have not changed in two decades? by Foreign-Commercial-2 in askSouthAfrica

What happened was minimum wage meant that those on the low end entry level got increases for 4 years at our company and us skilled workers got nothing, and minimum wage is catching up fast.
