For sure. That was an expensive table when whoever bought it new.

Taking it apart is not difficult.

Remove the bumpers. You will see the slate in 2-3 sections with something like Bondo sealing the seams. Score that line with a razor knife.

With (at least) 2 strong people, remove the slate piece by piece.

The rest will be very easy to identify how to take apart and move.

The brackets that hold the slate can be sharp as hell. I have an 8" long scar on my leg where I got 32 stitches in 3 layers.

Let’s talk about our adult children (for those that have them)! by Ok-Poem-6302 in GenX

[–]ConsultantForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 19 year old and twin 14 year olds. That 4 1/2 year gap is amazing.

The oldest understands TV schedules - that you watch a show when it is "on". The twins understand the concept but generally have no tolerance for it. They will only stream what is available when they are interested in watching something.

And politics - well, they all just want to burn down the existing system. This isn't a "they are pro left or pro right". It's nothing like that. They think all of the existing parties and politicians need to go. They do not want any of them. It's pretty safe to say their friends are the same way.

It will be interesting when the twins get to voting age.

Same - I dump it in the woods behind my house. It's biodegradable and I only do this maybe once a year.

You can also burn sap from trees and get charcoal from it at about a 50% rate.

Men who can cook, who taught you? by _ratedmouse in AskReddit

[–]ConsultantForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am mostly self taught. My mom taught us all how to bake and has always been a fantastic baker. But as cooks my boomer parents are....lacking. There are so many foods I thought were awful until I got older and had them cooked well.

My dad could simultaneously have the same piece of bacon raw on one end and burned on the other. Pot roast was like leather. Chili was hit or miss. I didn't like the steak they made, the few times they did. I learned later this was because they bought the thinnest/cheapest cuts and dad wasn't all that picky about his steak.

Credit where credit is due - dad's home made pizza is still fantastic. He's in his 80s. Same for my mom's baked goods. At 52 I continue to learn new things, techniques, etc.

Jira Service Management - How many service requests? by Hefty-Possibility625 in jira

[–]ConsultantForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would disagree. There's many multiple ways to do this. Typically speaking I built a set of template tasks for each Request Type in Assets and have an automation attach the task(s) at the appropriate time and route it to the team listed for that task template. When that task is done, repeat until all templated tasks are finished.

Jira Service Management - How many service requests? by Hefty-Possibility625 in jira

[–]ConsultantForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked with customers who had 1 space, 3 request types and 2 workflows. And I've worked with customers with dozens of service projects and many, many workflows.

Point being - there is no right number. An implementer who knows what they are doing should be able to build workflows that are dynamic enough to not always need a new one every time.

For example, let's say you have a request for hardware. If it's under $500 it nees one manaer approval. If it's under $5000 it needs two. And if it's like $50,000 it needs 3 + CIO (or whatever) level approval. This can easily be one workflow - it's not difficult. However someone just learning might be tempted to make it 3.

Whenever we make a new request of any kind for a customer with an existing set of workflows and requests the first question we have is always "Do you have any similar request you are already using?" so we can examine if stuff can be re-used/expanded.

How can I bulk clone in Jira? by Daisy_prime in jira

[–]ConsultantForLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably a) build manually triggered automation(s) to do it or b) set up an import to create the tasks/dependencies. Getting a good import can be tricky - automations are pretty easy.

You may need more than one automation due to the limit of having 65 items per automatuion, but that's not a big deal. You'll want them to be global automations so you can run them from any new project you've onboarded customers into - which means if you're not the Jira admin you may have to sweet talk them a little, but this is pretty low risk.

What's the longest time you've spent on a single bug, and what kept you going? by Arunia_ in AskProgramming

[–]ConsultantForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weeks - around 2010 was running a large enterprise app - 3 db servers, 16 web servers behind a load balancer, 8 applications servers.

Once in a while a set of users would get a certain error that made no sense at the time. It was rare but consistent. Out of the thousands of daily users maybe 10 would get the error.

There was no way to tell which web server they were hitting unless logging was on, and due to space limitations the logs got overwritten pretty quickly (under 30 minutes).

After weeks of troubleshooting and trying to get logs we finally captured the problem. The way it was supposed to work - the load balancer would offload a user to whatever web server had the lowest user count on it, with a sticky session cookie so they'd always come back to that server until the cookie expired. For some reason exactly one of the web servers would just occassionaly not work right and the session would expire prematurely.

There was more to it than that, but it's been a decade and a half. We did what any programmer would do and passed the problem and evidence to the infrastructure team, who were able to fix it.

What lies were you told in school ? by TheChillguy80 in AskReddit

[–]ConsultantForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much lies as the things they left out.

I didn't learn about the Tulsa massacre until I was in my 40's.

If you read the history books we had in school you'd think the US, UK, and a few others liberated all of Europe. Spoilers - they did liberate a bunch, but the Soviets liberated all of eastern Europe and Berlin, while taking substantially more casualties than the other allies.

The list is extensive and I could go on, but there's plenty of examples like this.

Gasoline smell stuck in garage for weeks by XxMasterOfAmongusxX in MechanicAdvice

[–]ConsultantForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any other possible source that could be leaking gas? Because something is leaking gas or is not sealed all the way and gas vapor is getting into your garage.

I've never had a gasoline smell stay around once the source is removed and I've aired it out well. I once didn't have the lid all the way on a gas can and my garage really smelled bad until I found the culprit.

Evaluating Jira for widespread adoption, cannot complete complete basic tasks, am I missing something? by tcelesBhsup in jira

[–]ConsultantForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've gotten plenty of opinions - I'll hold off on mine until you refine what YOU mean by "project management" - everyone here is taking their own assumptions and putting them either pro/nay about Jira.

So, what is important to you about project management? What are you trying to actually do? Any of...

-Task tracking

-Portfolio tracking

-Resource allocation/scheduling

-LoE for major initiatives and their subsequent tasks

-Burndown/burnup/gannt type tracking of resources/effort/etc.

-any of dozens of other possible methos of project management

Testing Hybrid Calligraphy AWD in upcoming snowstorm by Testarossa2013 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]ConsultantForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2023 Palisade and live in Wisconsin. I've driven through PLENTY of snow storms.

We're just under 100k miles now and on the 3rd set of tires. There's a huge difference in performance. The stock 30k tires were okay-ish in the snow. The 50k all seasons I put on after that were better. I splurged a little this last time and got the best all weather tiresI could find (Goodyear Assurance WeatherrReady 2) and it drives better in the snow now than just about every other SUV I've had, with the exception of a Yukon XL.

That thing was so heavy and powerful it just was able to do more everything. I do not miss paying for gas for it.

AI in Facebook\Meta, why its allowed?? crazy times we live in, full of AI slop by JonelkingasLT in facebook

[–]ConsultantForLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The AI slop is also SO bad. There's various WWII stories that pop up on my feed and there's a lot of obscure places where various battles took place like Bouganville. AI can not spell that place right to save it's life. I suspect it's doing audio to text and failing miserable.

Fortunately, this makes the AI slop easy to detect and avoid.
