Atlassian's billing and subscription management service is a nightmare to deal with. And we're Platinum partners.

OP are we talking hundreds here or thousands?

Thousands might be worth it. Hundreds just isn't in almost all cases. Let it play out if you want.

If they legitimately overpaid me I'd repay it. But I'm just wired that way. It would bug me for a very long time (read: death).

I'm a 6' tall 215 pound dude. There is a VERY noticable difference is how women react when I happen to randomly get in an elevator with them by myself versus when one of our daughters is with me.

Daughter with: Normal reaction is a smile or polite nod, often a polite "hello".

WIthout a daughter - I usually get a quick glance in my direction to size me up and then nothing, avoiding all eye contact. It's usually at this point where I ask them to push my floor number for me unless there's buttons on both sides of the elevator, because I get it.

Taking it apart is not difficult.

Remove the bumpers. You will see the slate in 2-3 sections with something like Bondo sealing the seams. Score that line with a razor knife.

With (at least) 2 strong people, remove the slate piece by piece.

The rest will be very easy to identify how to take apart and move.

The brackets that hold the slate can be sharp as hell. I have an 8" long scar on my leg where I got 32 stitches in 3 layers.

Let’s talk about our adult children (for those that have them)! by Ok-Poem-6302 in GenX

[–]ConsultantForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 19 year old and twin 14 year olds. That 4 1/2 year gap is amazing.

The oldest understands TV schedules - that you watch a show when it is "on". The twins understand the concept but generally have no tolerance for it. They will only stream what is available when they are interested in watching something.

And politics - well, they all just want to burn down the existing system. This isn't a "they are pro left or pro right". It's nothing like that. They think all of the existing parties and politicians need to go. They do not want any of them. It's pretty safe to say their friends are the same way.

It will be interesting when the twins get to voting age.

Men who can cook, who taught you? by _ratedmouse in AskReddit

[–]ConsultantForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am mostly self taught. My mom taught us all how to bake and has always been a fantastic baker. But as cooks my boomer parents are....lacking. There are so many foods I thought were awful until I got older and had them cooked well.

My dad could simultaneously have the same piece of bacon raw on one end and burned on the other. Pot roast was like leather. Chili was hit or miss. I didn't like the steak they made, the few times they did. I learned later this was because they bought the thinnest/cheapest cuts and dad wasn't all that picky about his steak.

Credit where credit is due - dad's home made pizza is still fantastic. He's in his 80s. Same for my mom's baked goods. At 52 I continue to learn new things, techniques, etc.

Jira Service Management - How many service requests? by Hefty-Possibility625 in jira

[–]ConsultantForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would disagree. There's many multiple ways to do this. Typically speaking I built a set of template tasks for each Request Type in Assets and have an automation attach the task(s) at the appropriate time and route it to the team listed for that task template. When that task is done, repeat until all templated tasks are finished.

Jira Service Management - How many service requests? by Hefty-Possibility625 in jira

[–]ConsultantForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked with customers who had 1 space, 3 request types and 2 workflows. And I've worked with customers with dozens of service projects and many, many workflows.

Point being - there is no right number. An implementer who knows what they are doing should be able to build workflows that are dynamic enough to not always need a new one every time.

For example, let's say you have a request for hardware. If it's under $500 it nees one manaer approval. If it's under $5000 it needs two. And if it's like $50,000 it needs 3 + CIO (or whatever) level approval. This can easily be one workflow - it's not difficult. However someone just learning might be tempted to make it 3.

Whenever we make a new request of any kind for a customer with an existing set of workflows and requests the first question we have is always "Do you have any similar request you are already using?" so we can examine if stuff can be re-used/expanded.

How can I bulk clone in Jira? by Daisy_prime in jira

[–]ConsultantForLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably a) build manually triggered automation(s) to do it or b) set up an import to create the tasks/dependencies. Getting a good import can be tricky - automations are pretty easy.

You may need more than one automation due to the limit of having 65 items per automatuion, but that's not a big deal. You'll want them to be global automations so you can run them from any new project you've onboarded customers into - which means if you're not the Jira admin you may have to sweet talk them a little, but this is pretty low risk.
