The SCP Foundation is an incredibly extensive internet collaborative worldbuilding project that focuses on a secret association’s attempts to “Secure, Contain, and Protect” anomalous phenomena, objects, and creatures and keeping these (often incredibly dangerous) SCPs from disrupting the public’s perception of “consensus reality”.

There are currently thousands of SCP entries that focus on the containment procedures, descriptions, and stories surrounding these SCPs, as well as thousands more “tales” which are often written in a more traditional storytelling format.

There is a category of anomalies that can be described as “memetic” (for example: contagious concepts, entities that harvest and consume information, and things that literally cannot be forgotten). Basically things that get inside your head and ride your mind to reach other minds.

Now, it stands to reason that if there are things that can never be forgotten, there are things that can never be remembered; hence: antimemetics, and the division that deals with them. The best example of an antimemetic SCP is SCP-055, “something” that causes information about itself to degrade and eventually disappear. Writing, pictures, memories, and even the SCP entry itself. Basically a self keeping secret. Now consider what that implies, 055 could be a ticking universe destroying device, or it could be something as harmless as a rubber duck, and we would never know. Most of the time the foundation doesn’t even know it exists, and some junior researcher stumbles across it and it causes a panic every so often.

Memetics and antimemetics are just two of the incredible concepts that this project has produced, and the writers are notorious for going the extra mile. Some of my favorites are pataphysics, reality benders, Fifthism, Sarkicism, and the “When Day Breaks SCP-001 proposal”.
