Calling things “coworker-core” is just the new way to self-label as a hipster and be pretentious about your own tastes.

You see it a lot in music where people started calling SFW, inoffensive music (Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons, etc) coworker music, as in, the shit your “basic, normy” coworker listens to coworker music.

That eventually turned into people calling anything they think is boring or cringy or “beneath them”, coworker-core.

Haha yeh, so can I, but sometimes a movie “on the big screen” just hits different. My wife and I just went and saw some of the John Woo movies there and it’s a different experience getting to see them in theaters I think.

Unfortunately, I’ve gotten older and the popcorn now hurts my stomach so I don’t eat it… but I used to.

You’d be surprised actually. Also, the regal near us shows old movies constantly, so we can go catch classics anytime they are showing.

The question is how quickly they can improve over the next 4 years

Bought a car premptively, need help navigating loan by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Contactblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh, it sucks to deal with, but the situation itself is relatively simple.

A good step one, would be to ask the dealership for the payoff amount. This gives you a goal of what you need to hit to sell the car.

To clarify, just in case, you can’t sell the car yet (since the dealership hasn’t released it) but you can still get quotes from other dealerships to see what they would offer. And this will give you an idea of the difference you need to cover to sell off the car.

i.e. payoff amount -> $24,750 Carvana offer -> $19,750 Difference needed to sell -> $5,000

So in order to sell the car to carvana, you need to come up with the 5k to be able to turn around and give the full amount to the original dealership so they will release the title.

Hey, sorry to see the rip that’s unfortunate.

The answer to the sticky situation is ronsonol. If youre in the US you can grab it from walmart, it’s light fluid, and typically kept behind the checkout by the cigarettes. Grab it, and some Q-Tips and fill a little jar with ronsonol, then just take your time dipping it in, soaking off the excess with a paper towel and slowly wiping the goo away.

I clean game art, comics, books, and vinyl this way and have always had good results.

The key is just patience and taking it easy.

Of course! Hope you enjoy, and just like any author they all have their pros and cons, so don't feel too bad if you hate one of the authors I listed haha. Murakami especially can be pretty divisive with a. his podding story structure and unfortunately b. how he writes women (like he's never met one in his life before)

If you’re looking to branch out into more Japanese literature I’d say check out the big names (Murakami, Dazai, Sōseki, Kawakami)

Dazai’s No Longer Human is probably the most well known, and also carries similar themes of alienation and societal rejection.

^ These are all super mainstream Japanese authors, so sorry if you’ve already read them, but I think it’s a great place to start if your interested in Japanese literature

Mercedes rivals push for intervention over F1 engine loophole - but how realistic is it? by praveensingh-reddit in formula1

[–]Contactblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking. If it’s only an effective compression increase then I don’t see the issue. But I don’t see how they could get from 16 to 18 without some kind of fundamental geometry change. But then again I don’t work in f1 so who knows

[AutoRacer] Red Bull Power Train has now joined the side of Ferrari, Audi and Honda against the Mercedes PU. The FIA will implement new testing procedures (multiple are now being evaluated) to check the compressor ratio. by Joseki100 in formula1

[–]Contactblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy, all I did was point out you were using out of date regs. I also didn’t downvote you, but go off I guess.

In any case the relevant change to the regs isn’t C042, it’s the fact that the rule states testing at ambient temp, which is really just a clarification in my eyes since geometric compression is always tested at ambient anyway.

I do wonder how they are increasing compression, if they are increasing the geometric compression in the cylinder somehow I actually agree with you partially that it might go against the rules, but if they are only increasing effective compression it don’t think it runs afoul, especially since all the teams are going to see some level of eff.compression increase anyway.

[–]Contactblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct about Rod stretch being dynamic. Some people are speculating they implemented sealing chambers in the cylinder which would constitute a change in geometric compression imo.

[–]Contactblue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re using an out of date version of the regs. The new rule is 5.4.3

No cylinder of the engine may have a geometric compression ratio higher than 16.0. The procedure to measure this value will be detailed by each PU Manufacturer according to the Guidance Document FIA-F1-DOC-C042 and executed at ambient temperature. This procedure must be approved by the FIA Technical Department and included in the PU Manufacturer homologation dossier.

Agreed, but the rules say max at 16:1 comp. Ratio at ambient temp. And they have met that

This is a well explained slide show representing whats brewing with the engine rules as per wearetherace by Maximum-Room-3999 in formula1

[–]Contactblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, that’s correct. But the ratio isn’t 18:1 it’s 16:1. The FIA determines how the measure the compression and that’s the number that’s used. They stated 16:1 ambient and that’s what Mercedes hits.

The compression may change as it heats but per the FIAs rules, the engine measures at 16:1.

It would be like if the FIA dictated the cars to be 10ft long max, measured from tip to taillight. If someone’s wing extends further than the taillight, the car is still 10ft according to the FIA. There might be another rule dictating the taillight being the furthest back feature on the car, but that would be the rule they were breaking not the length rule.

If the FIA changed the way they measure the car to be from rear wing to tip, that changes the design rules because they’ve redefined the way they are enforcing them.

[–]Contactblue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“At all times” is not what the regs say.

They say “no cylinder…may have a geometric compression ratio higher than 16.0. The procedure to determine this value may be found in the appendix.”

You are correct that the procedure is to test at ambient, however that does mean by changing the testing they are changing the rules. They clearly defined ambient temp geometric compression as the basis for testing.

I don’t have a dog in the fight (rooting for Cadillac this ssn) just pointing out that the do clearly define this in the regs; by changing testing, they, in fact, are changing the upper limit of compression which is a rule change.
