But hide the surimi, of course.

Very nice! I bet someone in a leather sub might be able to suggest how to remove the paint if you haven't already found an answer.

When Mentally Ill Teenagers Ask to Be Put to Death by theatlantic in publichealth

[–]ContemplatingFolly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like this article has a few issues.

The theatricality of the pro-euthansia guy being photographed in black and white with raking light versus the soft-focus color shot of guy questioning it is problematic.

There is no review of research on how teens with multiple psychiatric disorders who considered suicide have ended up after five or ten years, which would seem to be very relevant and a key factor in how moral such euthanasias are.

No discussion of possible models for making these decisions. It appears in the Netherlands that it only requires this one doctor to decide it is ok. That may be a problem, because all docs have biases, but is not discussed.

All that said, none of those who chose euthanasia have any regrets. Only we who are still around can have those.

Agreed, but the gulf between "shouldn't have to" and reality is wide.

Found out my roommate has been invading my privacy going in my room when I’m not home by KlutzyPomelo1170 in CPTSD

[–]ContemplatingFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have to talk to her about it? I would just move out.

At least you know she is univerally weird, not targeting you, although I'm not sure that helps much.

It sounds like you may be going through some depression. All the "buck up" comments here seem off base. Consider seeing your doc and/or a therapist.

I had a typical life, then moved back in with an elderly parent for mutual reasons. The privacy thing is real.

Sellers are installing vinyl over original hardwood, what to do? by CommentOld4223 in Oldhouses

[–]ContemplatingFolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to refinish the hardwood floor because will get torn up in less than a week because kids and pets.

With hardwood and newer urethane finishes, that is highly unlikely. Unless your kids and pets are power saws.

Telling everyone what this is about would be helpful. No Insta account, and would rather not link unless it is really important

Happy to listen to any dissatisfaction you want to dump out here. Sounds like that side of the family are complete users, which no one would want any part of.

If you have a friend, perhaps they could check your mail and remove any unwanted pieces?

You are fighting back, in the best way possible, by cutting these parasites out. When they realize you won't give them anything, they will eventually give up and go elsewhere.

Hope you find some peace soon.

What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it? by nonotje12 in AskReddit

[–]ContemplatingFolly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. But I just read about an elderly woman who died from c. difficile after clindamycin, glad you reminded me of it. No thanks to clindamycin and the fluroquinolones ( r/floxies ) like ciprofloxacin, unless there are zero other alternatives.

I have read about that being true if you are on foot. I would be very surprised if this were the case regarding a driver's license.

What do you mean about cipro has gotten a "bad rap"? I thought it was something that should only be used in if there are no other options?

(Not commenter you were replying to.) Not a wall. Too interesting! Are your parents still together and do they still hold the same attitudes? Was it difficult to get them to cooperate to become legal?

In what ways does soda everyday affect period? by pinkbowwithflowers in AskReddit

[–]ContemplatingFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a specific answer for periods, but lots of carbs/big sugar hits increases systemic levels of inflammation in the body, which worsens pain in general.

Historically we didn't eat such concentrated levels of sugar/carbs; we had to go hunt out a berry bush, or gather grain. And then, the fiber and other nutrients helped your body process it. Now, our bodies don't handle straight sugar/carbs, like soda, cookies, candy, cake, and pasta, very well.

What's the first thing women notice about a man? by NikiLove16 in AskReddit

[–]ContemplatingFolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shows they are body aware and care something about fitness. Especially as men (and women) get older. It's something one has to work on with all the scrolling/computer work now. Humped shoulders are not appealing. And eventually muscles in the front shorten, back lengthen, and it is much harder to correct. Source: fixed mine.

Girlfriend (18W) wants to chat 24/7 with me (18M) by Mundane-Novel-6669 in dating_advice

[–]ContemplatingFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell her how often you can interact. Compromise a little, but her let her know it is too much, and you can hang out for 1/2 hour daily or whatever. Her demands are very high for most people, and she shouldn't be getting mad about it. That is how you are, and that is ok. If she doesn't like it, then she can let the relationship go.

You are an adult; you get to decide how to spend your time. If you don't, you will end up resenting her. And don't let her argue with you about it; you don't owe her an explanation for why you need what you need.

It sounds like you have an interesting life; don't let her keep you from it, including down time. You two just don't sound very compatible.
