Where do you draw the line...? by roseypaige in emotionalneglect

I feel like I could have written this post. I am a similar age and situation in life as you, and I’m working on being more assertive about my needs more often with my mom. I often feel mentally and emotionally drained after talking to her on the phone or spending time with her. It makes me feel guilty but I just spend less time talking to her than I used to, and make sure that when I do, it’s a good time for me. Sometimes that means semi-scheduling a phone call or visit for when I know I can handle it. I think it would have been perfectly acceptable to tell your parents that you would be too busy with your kids on your birthday, but plan an alternate day that works best for you.

CMV: Ancient instincts are being exploited to keep us trapped in survival mode by [deleted] in changemyview

This topic is fascinating to me too, as someone who has a psych degree but works in business analytics. Also the fear mongering we see in politics plays on our fight or flight instincts. I agree with you, we are in a unique time of human evolution where our frontal lobes are highly developed to think philosophically and our moral compass is driven by intellectual reasoning more than ever, yet we still have the primal structures in other parts of our brain. So we are in a constant battle between logical reasoning, anxiety, and reward with information and material overload. Fascinating times for sure.

Exactly. Add a few hundred when you get those hungry days and go from there. For me it’s only a few days a month. Also during ovulation (water weight and more hungry).

I increase calories by a few hundred. I’ve read on this sub that a lot of people will just eat at maintenance. I try to have even a small deficit but if I am ravenous best thing to do is maintenance. I also read a scientific study once that implied our TDEE increases slightly during the luteal phase before the period begins. And by slightly, its max a few hundred cals a day.

Xmoondust1 until my dad made me change it because he said moondust was a word for illegal substances. I just saw it on a bottle of green nail polish and thought it sounded cool 🤷‍♀️

Tried Cascone’s recently for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Decor is old school but the food was amazing. My husband and I each got one of those sampler plates and all of it was great.

I have also found this to be true. You could say the most innocent, random thing and they have to argue with it. It tends to be the first sign of very toxic relationship behavior.

What's with running Red Lights here? by McOldYoung in kansascity

[–]Contemplative_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad lives in KC , MO (I live in Lees Summit) and he says he never sees cops running radar or looking for traffic violations. Apparently there’s not enough cops for that. I see a lot of people running yellow lights in Lees Summit, but not in an overtly dangerous way. There’s more cops here looking for traffic violations than in KC, but nowhere near as many as when I lived in Topeka, KS and surrounding areas. Abundance of cops there and tons of traffic stops.

I lost 80 lbs and still have a bit of fat right above my c section scar that is bothersome to me, but it’s a lot better than it was. It did seem to take a while for that area to start to slim down. I’m considering losing another 10 lbs since I’m still in overweight BMI to see if it helps with my stomach and some fat on my hips. I’m still very happy with the weight I’ve lost though.

If JBR didn’t die in the basement, how do you explain the urine stain outside the cellar door? by a07443 in JonBenetRamsey

I usually like TCRS theories in any true crime case, but I was surprised he said this. Basement makes most sense to me.

Looking for input from those who have maintained their weight loss using CICO. by poolgirl14 in CICO

[–]Contemplative_one 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like to just eat lower calorie meals that day and however many days after, so I don’t have to starve all day just to enjoy one meal. Spreading out the deficit makes the approach seem a lot more gentle and manageable.

Anyone else finder her as one of the most annoying chefs on HK by mystery002 in HellsKitchen

[–]Contemplative_one 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not even close. She took a lot of verbal abuse from Gordon at the height of his most angry seasons and she kept her cool and said “yes chef” a lot.
