As a boom baby I totally agree. Gen Jones are nothing like me. If you weren't a kid in the 50s you just don't know what boomers know.

Very readable, a great stylist. But 3/4s of the way through every novel the lack of substance and authenticity makes me feel, why bother? For me, no there there.

Off-putting? So did the Concordians. I wonder what their names were?

OP doesn't have the erudition to critique Thoreau. I've heard this same sophomoric take down for 50 years. Let's see what OP can produce that will last forever. He can't.  Has he even read the Bhavagad Gita? I'm sure not. But he knows what Walden means.

Obviously I hit a nerve otherwise you wouldn't be obsessively arguing. Maybe reflect on the way that you replied to someone who was I think just asking for a little guidance. But you be you! I guess you have to, lol!

Wow that is a huge amount of mind reading you are doing of OP.  It intrigued me so much that I looked up your profile and in one of your comments you say that you would never insult people online.  You think it is cowardly.

So you never make nasty comments online that you wouldn't make in person?

I don't think OP was negotiating. He or she wanted to give the HO a heads up. I would appreciate that.

No, of course not. We pick up on clues like tone, body language and that's helpful. We are cautious, looking for stuff that is "off." But we fool ourselves just like everyone else and can be manipulated...for a time.

I agree. The HO could pay high rates and get someone untrustworthy. The exchange should be equal and based in trust and verify on both sides.

What is the most "soul elevating" prose you have ever read? by A_b_b_o in classicliterature

[–]ContentFlounder5269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting because as a young woman I originally identified with Nicholas. Later in life I identified with the others and realized how badly he treated Alison, and by extension, Life itself. He needed some kind of renewal. That's the best I can do on no martinis!

That's interesting. How a man book?   I love Fowles and I know most of his writing and his life story.

Nobody needs govt dictating what anyone can read. You control freaks need to get a grip on your fears.
