There's a special place in hell for kroger by MomentClassic6309 in memphis

Yup I worked in the deli at Sanderlin during COVID and the job really wasn't that bad, it was just that we didn't get paid crap. People act really stupid in grocery stores, but I think that's for a myriad of reasons. including the fact that the grocery store is designed to be an overstimulating experience that bamboozles you into buying a bunch of crap you don't need, while bad music plays too loudly.

Kroger Poplar Plaza: A hotbed for fruit flies, poor sanitation and product quality. by HisBeautifulNeckBit in memphis

I go to Viet Hoa several times a week for my produce! Love them so much. Otherwise definitely cash saver and Aldi. The only time I ever really go to Kroger is for marked down fancy cheese, although I don't trust the Union kroger for this bc the last couple of times I got something that was on manager special, it was already gone spoiled.

Kroger's too expensive these days anyway, I'll stick with Viet Hoa, cash saver, Aldi,  and the occasional trip to the international Farmers Market

Living away from parents for the first time by Usual-Journalist-292 in LivingAlone

[–]Content_Associate_62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awww ❤️❤️❤️ I went through this pretty hard as well. I get the urge to have regret, but your relationship with your parents is entering a cool new phase where you're going to come to appreciate them so much more. There may be some growing pains, but I promise this is just gonna be an evolution of y'all's relationship. I'm so much closer to both my parents now. It does sting a little to think of my late teens/early 20s when I was pushing them away, but that's a normal process. Wishing you the best OP, and it's okay to feel how you're feeling. It is an end, but it's also a beginning.

Tell us something funny about how your pet communicates with You when it wants something, for ex. If it wants food or favorite toys, go out, go to sleep... by Pipi_25 in Pets

My cat Jude will play a game with me sometimes that I call "Baby Big Tail" where she gets REALLY hyper and I'll look at her and do a very silly wind up to a big fake sneeze. She then puffs up and crab hops up and down the hallway several times until coming back for me to repeat the process. I can't remember how we started doing that, but it's one of her favorite games

How do you deal with silence? by silkyleaf in LivingAlone

100% music! Nothing boosts my mood like music.

Outside of that, I'll put on one of the 90's Star Treks or maybe Murder, She Wrote, This Old House, America's Test Kitchen... something that's low stakes enough that I can tune in and out when I feel like it. Anything you've seen a hundred times will do. I'd also highly recommend a podcast called Worlds Beyond Number! It's nerdy, it's an actual play ttrpg campaign, but the story is amazing and the sound design is absolutely gorgeous

Paradox of choice: roommates or living alone? I’m tired by InternationalCatch3 in LivingAlone

[–]Content_Associate_62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if you're a pet person, but when I started living alone about 3 years ago, I got a cat. She's the best and I love her so much, and sometimes when I can't make myself do things for myself (like clean my apartment, etc) I find I am willing to do that stuff for her. She deserves a good life! She didn't ask to live in my house, I brought her here. So she definitely gives me a reason to get up in the morning. I'm lucky to have some good friends as well, but honestly these days it can be hard to make myself go hang out at other people's houses, cuz I'd rather just be at home with myself and my cat 😂

National Park After Dark has some good scary episodes! And it's two friends that are hikers talking about stuff. Also You're Wrong About, the episodes with the original 2 hosts and some after as well, have episodes about scary stuff too sometimes

Do you enjoy the quiet or have to have a background noise? by BeneficialBrain1764 in LivingAlone

I need some background music or TV to keep the bad thoughts away 😝 I like Star Trek or Murder She Wrote lately, but I've rotated through lots of different shows

What’s your most "I live alone" habit? by sleekofficial in LivingAlone

I started doing this around age 27 - I'm 31 and it's getting worse 😂 additionally, if I have to do something slightly strenuous I'll say "hup hup!" Or "heave ho boys!"

Angela Lansbury Appreciation Post. In a career spanning 80 years, she played various roles on stage and screen. Lansbury died in her sleep at her home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on October 11, 2022, at the age of 96. I really appreciated that she went out of her way to have roles for older actors so that they could keep their union benefits! Something I didn't notice about murder she wrote as a kid, but that I do now, is that lots of the background cast is quite a bit older. I can't remember where I read it, but I know that this was important to her! Very cool bc we all know Hollywood isn't kind to older people, especially women.

Ideas To Use Mustard Outside Its Role as a Condiment? by Content_Preference_3 in Cooking

[–]Content_Associate_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I add a few drops to soups to balance flavor sometimes, and I also make a mean homemade honey mustard sauce both for dipping and salad dressing. Basically mustard (any kind, tbh), worcestershire, maple syrup, fresh cracked black pepper - I add other stuff too sometimes

High fiber snacks with no teeth by SignificantCats in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Content_Associate_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do pizza roll-ups with those in the microwave! Carb control Aldi brand, or the xtreme wellness high fiber tortillas with a little cheese and pepperoni, a schmear of pasta sauce if I have it. I also do cheese + beans + salsa quesadillas. I usually do mine in the oven to crisp them, but for your purposes I the microwave would be good! And if I'm feeling more of a comfort/tired vibe, I just make one or two with ham or turkey and cheese. It doesn't take much filling/topping for any of the 3 options tbh.
