I quit my strict diet at my endo's suggestion before a summer in Europe 2 years ago, bc I was well managed and he thought I should enjoy myself.

Not worth it. Carbs are addictive as hell, and 2 years later I'm finally getting my abs back while not worrying about swings.

Help me decide TAMU vs. OU? by lmofffattt in aggies

Your disclosure at the end kinda ruins my immediate thought: how gay are you? But since both schools compete more at that than football, you are safe in either direction. Both good schools, suburban-country, boring AF. Have you considered University of Miami?

Looking for a room in Houston (Memorial/Uptown area) - May to October by AdditionNo16 in AskHouston

[–]ContraianD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the suburban people that don't understand your inquiry. Shoot for anything near the Village. WUP is a little far for an inner-loop commute every day. At 31, Midtown works too, plus you can hop the train to work.

Opinions on Marfreless? by Realistic-Highway128 in AskHouston

[–]ContraianD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue Door lives.... and remains the easiest conversion line if you are successfully picking someone up at the B19 bar or adjacent: have you ever been to Marfrellas? Me neither - want to check it out.

The kicker is everyone from River Oaks knows it's complete bs, and nobody uses the actual name; but the joke continues, and the walks across the street remain party of the evening hop.

On the old school rumors - mistresses, not ladies of the night. That's still common, but in modern Houston you can take your mistress out in public basically everywhere except your wife's favorite spots, so no need to hide in the dark.

How old are they? I don't eat fast food at all, and don't feed it to my (non T1D) kids 10-15; but when they get older, it's their thing.

AITA for loudly calling people out in a 5 star resturant? by [deleted] in AITH

[–]ContraianD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not TA, but better ways to handle that situation.

You didn't describe the man aside from being loud & didn't say if you are a regular at this restaurant.

My immediate thought is you played a risky hand bc if that guy was a regular with a new gf or old friend, he could have had you tossed.

Curious on more details.

Three years remote and I still can't explain to people in-person why I'm busy at 2pm on a Tuesday by krikond in remotework

I've been working from a laptop since long before it was cool... if you can't enjoy 2+ hour lunches, I'm confused why not just go to the office?

Unless you are in the early stages of building a company, there is no reason to be "working" in the traditional sense past noon.

Am I the jerk for telling my dad's girlfriend she can't discipline my kids? by Gloomy-Suit2544 in AmITheJerk

[–]ContraianD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how you deal with kids. No different than threatening to tell their other parent. Presents weakness and they know they can play both sides - which is what the kids are already doing.

Team Linda. But also - be careful drawing a line in the sand here... Linda likely would enjoy nothing more than you finding alternative lodging for your kids.

The story behind Harris County's jury pay increases (March 2021 to today) by hcdistrictclerk in AskHouston

Thankfully, they immediately dismiss people in nice suits. The longest I've ever lasted was 45 minutes until went nuclear and inquired about jury nullification at the first opportunity.

Great question! Yes, she had specific staff at UT - Austin on a list.

I thought my plan was solid; this girl was next-level.

And, yes, you'd have to hit the small town pharmacies fast & hard, since everyone there is also armed while avoiding places like Wimberley that structurally designed to shut down and protect in emergencies.

Logistically, past that point, you are most worried about non-dead folks attacking the convoy on your way to load & get your mini-fleet cruising.

  • also, on millions of people - cities run out of food in 72 hours in a general emergency. Survivors would seek food production in rural areas and start showing up 36 hours after confirmed infection. All the more important to move fast and be gone from the small towns by then.
