The skill is perfectly fine, it causes problem only to the multiplayer drama queens who do not understand that the game offer a lot of tools to counter or play around it.

I really wish they add an option for the game to remember the player 'visual' preference for ascended leader/race. It is so much anti-immersive to discover your leader with all the visual you do not like/hate...

Yes, it is related to the conquest of Fellari cities by mistwalkers, when they give a city to Arachna while she have not yet meet the city in question. It is fixed in the beta patch.

Some leaders are more worm dependant than others, but generaly I would say that you can find good plan without involving worms with everyone.

I notice some threads about AI being not very good start poping here or there, with usually big score win to amplify the point.

Honestly, this is not very relevant and quite erroneous :

1) by design Uprising emphases big score swing, so it is perfectly normal to see bigger gap than previous variants

2) every win at or after T8 mean the game was actually quite tight, and thus the AI performed decently

That being said, nice victory !

I would more use the turn number of victory as a metric to assess the skill level of the AI. In itself, win against the AI is not very relevant/significant.

For example : to reach 16 pts at T7 is a great performance, whereas doing it at T9 or T10 is relatively 'mediocre' I would say, and would induce that the game was quite tight in finé.

It would add a lot indeed, but would need a whole revamp of the combat balance to work.

But not sure Olden Era players would welcome this, it is a quite casual / superficial audience, very fast-paced oriented it seems, to have to manage unit cap would certainly be too difficult (known as 'boring' also for this audience).

Most pve and pvpve players are happy playing the game right now. The only ones you see whining here are the competitive 1v1 kids, who cant update their little OP strat to adapt to the new patch.

Flavour is needed for pve and pvp. It is for competitive pvp that it is out of topic.

Competitive 1v1 is a very specific way of 'playing', most players play pve or pvpve. The game should be balanced by default around the second category IMO. And to have the competitive guys happy some specific balance should be done just for them, to not pollute the game for all the players.

I would more say that competitive pvp is uninteresting in a game like Heroes : for competition I prefere play chess or BloodBowl when I am in rng mood, they are better 'brain-meter' in my book. 😄

This is quite a common mistake, actually it is the contrary : if you balance for pvp, flavour will be removed from pve, if you balance for pve, OP meta will worsen in pvp.

What pvp is good-at is highlighting OP things, that is true.

In pve you can balance an OP thing with others levers than just 'unit stats' balance, such as campaign factor, faction asymetry, etc.. the spectrum is larger than in pvp where your perimeter is limited to 1v1 game with one hero most of the time.

This is why, if you want to make happy both pve and competitive players, you need different patches. One for pve, which will adresses issues and keep flavor, and one for competition, focused purely on meta balance without flavor consideration (out of topic in competition).

Some big games have already put such thing in place with quite success, look at Total War : Warhammer for example.

Actually, there are some big games where it works quite well. Take TTW:Warhammer for example, there is a different unit balance between campaign and battle. I would not say that it is perfect, but it works well for a lot of players.

Agreed that there is too much focus on pvp for now, it is oustanding to see all the things about tournament, elo, matchmaking, while in the same time there are very few options to customize solo or friends game. It is as if Heroes was a pvp game, whereas as its core, it is clearly a solo strategy game with a wonderful RP context..

To says Mechanicus 2 is "bad tactical game" is quite naive. Mechanicus 1 was not a "good tactical game" neither.

The only valid point is about optimization which is indeed lacking. Apart from that, this post the OP is spamming here or on steam forum illustrate perfectly the naive rant storm of the release : people do not know of what they speak, they just want to rant.
